Thanks. I will check it out.
Lotus of Siam on flamingo; one of the best Thai restaurants in the US.
Make a reservation asap if you do. The Jam band scene is onto Lotus. It was a mini Phish fest at late lunch hour last time.
We did Lamaii and the food was excellent, but the atmosphere couldn’t be more different. Called at noon to see if we could get in at 1pm and they said how about 2. When we got there there was only one other table eating in the whole place? You could say it lacked any energy.
The food was spot on though and Ceritas Heintz chard was $85. Riesling list was very short.
I was able to make two same day reservations at lotus when I was there last month, Vegas is just dependent on what’s going on that week. I believe corkage was 35. We had a 13 dom which went really well with the food.
That was exactly my point, but when I ate there before Phish one shouldn’t sleep on the fact that it was full. I’d say 80% of the people were going to the concert. If you were to read the bands forum you would see that it’s a well known phriendly (lol) place to eat. That may or may not be the case with Dead & Co. but since there is a lot of crossover I thought it worth mentioning.
In other words, if a popular jam band is in town I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. LOS reservations might be hard to obtain, because of said band and the restaurants fans. (ie…what’s going on that week.)
Sparrow and Wolf has quite a few great veggie options for you.
Can’t speak to Mother Wolf
Lotus litigation - Mothership vs Red Rocks
Unpaywalled.
Wow. I’ve wondered why I haven’t seen Penny recently. I’ve never been to the Red Rocks location, but have heard not much good about it. This sounds terrible.
Wtf else could go wrong…can they just
Please go back to East Sahara…
Just probably never going to be the same
I much prefer flamingo to east sahara.
IMO, Lotus of Siam was at its apogee 20-ish years ago in the original location in the Commercial Center on Sahara, before it expanded (twice) without expanding the kitchen. I’d go to Las Vegas for a week and eat there every day. I think the restaurant declined after Bank left to open Chada, and not only the wine list. The decline became more noticeable over time and it wasn’t very good prior to the roof collapse and ‘temp’ move to the old Roy’s on Flamingo. The move reenergized Saipan and she started cooking more often again. And, I think, the restaurant rebounded as a result. I’ve noticed a decline, again, maybe related to Red Rocks opening, maybe not.
I hope the family works things out.
It was definitely good back in the 2000s, that was during my first stint in La and I was there more weekends than not to play poker and ate there at least twice a month; I think the quality of the food last month was as good as ever, though.
Nice clarification…
I’m not sure what mchang is feeling but I’m not sure how anyone would say Sahara wasn’t the the Soul
Bummed that the new Alon Shaya restaurant at Wynn is closed on Wednesdays. We won’t get the chance to eat there unless we do a 5:30pm day of show and race to the Sphere.
We did decide to stay at Encore, so we are also considering Casa Playa for a nice dinner. Has anyone been?
Just hated the location. Even though I usually drove there it’s just annoying to go that far off strip.
The Commercial Center was, is, and likely will continue to be a dump until and unless it is redeveloped. LoS expanded twice, into the former wig shop and the former massage parlor adjoining the original restaurant space. On the other hand, there seem to be fewer drug zombies and prostitutes than in the center’s glory years.
never met anyone who drove there and to Kaplans point what fun would it be if you weren’t just a bit on edge
(I never sensed Anything serious but if you are coming from the strip you might have felt…)
Sorry Abbie didn’t mean to hijack… play on!
But 3…2…1
It has nothing to do with how seedy it is, it was annoying how far away it was from the strip. I’ve spent a lot of time in Vegas and gone to much more dangerous areas than that.
Going to vegas this weekend (pray for no heatstroke) - going to Kame Sushi and Carbone. Never been to Kame, they are a long time client so thought i’d take my wife.
