K&L Launching "Anonymous Wine Collective"

And that happened because, once upon a time, there was a 2023 Anonymous Wine Collective Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir bottling. It has never made any sense that Rhys would have had any involvement with a Central Coast Pinot.

I don’t think that wine and the other 5 listed have been released. The three mentioned above are the inaugural Anonymous releases. The others are forthcoming.

Cool. Point remains the same, though. Surmise/Speculation of Rhys involvement of the SCM Pinot would make sense; the Central Coast Pinot – no.

It looks like K&L just added two more:

No writeup or information available yet.

I also noticed they had another one in their “Coming Soon” section that I don’t believe has been released yet: $49.95 - 2023 Anonymous Wine Collective “Hillside Block 92” Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

I’m not into these kinds of projects, but nonetheless I’m actually a bit surprised that nobody ITT has really liked any of these or wanted to go back for more.

Given current market conditions, it seems like it wouldn’t be that hard to offer something that overdelivers at those low price points.

They sure lay the hype on pretty thickly:

The 2024 Anonymous Russian River Chardonnay was made for us by one of the most highly regarded and critically acclaimed winemakers in the country. The wine comes from two highly renowned vineyards in two different sub-regions of the Russian River. One vineyard is out near the small town of Occidental. The mature vines are grown in very powdery, moondust-like Goldridge soils. This vineyard is one of the most highly acclaimed in the region. The second portion of the blend is from a vineyard in the hills above the famed Westside Road, where a who’s who of the most famous estates in the region are located.

K&L has also added a 2023 Oakville Cabernet for $49.95

My first post - looking forward to getting to know some of you on here.

I was at the Culver City store a few months ago and bought a 22 Cab to see what it was all about. It was actually pretty good, so i ordered 5 more bottles. Having tried many GIIIs and BV GDLs, I personally think this tastes more like grapes from GIII.

Just recently purchased a few bottles of the 2023 Cab, and can honestly say I have no idea where it came from. Completely different taste profile and very young - needs a long decant and/or more cellar time.

Tried the pinot from the first release- didn’t like it much and wouldn’t even offer a guess where it came from.

Welcome!

Thanks for your note.

Sounds like a bit of a crap shoot, for sure.

These are not a VHR, Schraders, or Realm by any means, but for $50 – Nice cabs for sure. For my tastes, 22 better than 23. But then again, the 23 may evolve over time.

2024 Anonymous Wine Collective Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
They added a new Pinot, very typical burgundy style Pinot with aroma of spices, the descriptions are too obvious that you can almost shortlist it into 1-2 wineries.
I think this one is very easy to guess compare to the others.

the 2023 Cab is also easy to guess fro the descriptions.

What wineries would those be?

Littorai is one for the Pinot. Can’t think of who else would fit that description

Yeah Littorai is founded in 1993 by Ted in Anderson Valley, exclusive via subscriptions, and etc…

they also have 2005 and 2009 St Emillion, amazing conditions, must be directly from the winery as a library release. Grabbed some of each

$30 for a fairly likely Littorai pinot is a deal. Probably not a great sign for the market though.

Similarly, seeing 2018 Shafer at Hi Time (and not even under some mystery label) for $40 is a great deal if you like Shafer, but an ominous data point for the wine market.
