K&L Launching "Anonymous Wine Collective"

Looks like they are doing this, on the same day, at all their store locations.

Just had the Cab. Somewhat light without any depth or thickness. Just OK for $50.

I agree. I bout some excellent CH Roussanne several years ago. I tried again and it was a sweet syrupy mess.

Tim should be better than o.k. for 50. thanks for the report

Thanks for following up.

In fairness, it was a ā€˜22 and only a few good Napa cabs were made. Would not expect a genuinely good wine to end up on the bulk market…

I agree but K&L is touting the Cab as exemplary.

Well, that’s a relief – not lab- or AI-produced.

FWIW, a handful of CT notes currently, which generally seem to indicate that these offer good QPR.

FWIW, the Chardonnay is sold out. Not interested in the Cab. I have more than enough domestic Pinot and Chardonnay from bottling and the one remaining mailing list I’m on (Sandar & Hem). I’m sorta interested in tasting the Pinot, but it’s not high on my list.

I picked up a bottle of the Central Coast Pinot last week out of curiosity and opened it tonight.

Lots of forest floor on the nose. Black tea and red fruit on the palate. It tastes like a nice $40 central coast pinot without much oak influence. For $17 I’m definitely picking up more.

I like this program. It’s nice to be able to buy a single bottle to try rather than committing to a case of mystery bulk wine.

Just had the Chardonnay tonight.
It’s ok.
Nothing special.
Good summer afternoon white wine but even at $20 it’s a pass for me.

Have you tried the Pinot? I’m tempted to bring a bottle to our next dinner on the 5th.

You should bring it!

…and then we can all tell Alan how wrong he is… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I blinded @dteng and a few other folks on the Pinot Noir at our offline last night. Consensus was it’s fine and the price is ok. All of us felt it was a little on the sweet side. Would I buy more? Probably not. It’s sold out so it’s an academic question.

I brought home 1/2 the bottle. I corked it and left it on the kitchen counter. A day of air was not helpful. It turned bland and barely seemed Pinot-ish.

It would definltely be a great wedding/party wine for non-geeks, no question.

No way the source for this was Rhys…

It did seem insipid, even for an Alesia bottling. I haven’t tried that many recent ones, but they all displayed more palate interest than this wine. I’m also speculating there isn’t much in the sub $20 Pinot range that’s even drinkable so I’ll give this wine a little credit based on that.

(Note: Andy was one of the folks blinded on this)
