K&L Launching "Anonymous Wine Collective"

If we are correct regarding the reason for the label existing (meaning a relative surplus of very good quality wine), I’d say there’s no rush to jump in. Likely more to follow.
For my perspective, I think this retailer is among the straightest shooters in the business, so I would be inclined to trust what they say about the wine.
So, my bottom line, it’s probably worth going in on a mixed six or something like that, trying them out, and proceeding from there.

I mean… unless you’re getting 75% discounts somewhere, you’re not getting beckstoffer labeled products for $50

I think the only way to know if it’s a wine worth buying more of is to open one. Tell us how it is if you do.

There was previously some information online that fruit was GIII.

I also believe indication was that Fayard made it.

I think the cabernet is from Beckstoffer Georges III vineyard, not necessarily directly from BV, many producers make wine from that vineyard, It’s a 300 acre vineyard. Georges de Latour did buy/lant it in 1928 but I don’t know if BV owns all of it now.

If they want happy customers I suggest they stop ending auctions @ 3pm on a work day mid-week :pwn:

They need to set up the collective as a DAO, throw it on the blockchain, sell tokens, and rug pull it.

Just purchased 4 bottles of the Cab from the Hollywood store so we’ll see.

I categorically dislike these “white label” things — is that the term? — but (1) I generally trust K&L, (2) the pricing is attractive, and (3) it’s possible to purchase single bottles.

In that context, I’ll likely try the Chard and the Cab. If the Cab is good for what it is, then that will serve a purpose. If the Chard gets even moderately close to Montelena’s normal Chard, then it will be a great deal at $20.

I am with you. I’m the consumer, I want to give you money without the coy ‘secretly a 250 dollar bottle’ bullshit.

This ‘won’t tell you’ crap adds nothing to my hobby.

This is not new, they had a previous line - something like Kachina? - the wines were solid

Kalinda still exists. I see 3 current Kalinda wines on their site. Have heard any hoopla from them about those, and it certainly used to be a prominent program. So, looks like they’re trying to breathe in fresh life with a higher tier.

Also, note that K&L does find great deals without having to rebrand. They’ve bought up stocks of things like some AU and NZ wines and blown them out for cheap. One case was due to a distributor dropping the producer and wanting to purge the inventory.

That’s classic and deals like that have popped up throughout history. That type of close out is not a sign of the times

AI will be strongly biased to well known wines that have a lot of internet verbiage on them since that’s the only source of its information. There must be a lot of more obscure Napa wines out there that some of this could apply to
