I know it’s not “the market” but damn Burgundy pricing…

Must be opening a new restaurant and prepping the wine list

Are you ordering the chicken with that?

That’s what I thought. They are a really solid retailer, i watch their prices a lot and they are always competitive and occasionally the lowest prices on the market. These prices wouid make Cask Cartel blush.

Interesting. Just received an extensive 23 Burgundy offer. Surprisingly Blain-Gagnard Batard-Montrachet roughly 30% less than the 21 vintage of this wine.

I just got an offer from France at 40% off last year’s pricing and large quantities of allocated wines. Some retailers are definitely hurting with the exchange rate + tariffs.

Feel free to hook a wine brotha up.

Nothing really to see since after exchange rate + tariffs, it’s essentially the same price as last year and I think the 22 vintage is better than 23.

Other than the cults, the pipeline is filling up. Distributor lists that two years ago showed sold out on just about every Burg are now showing availability on a majority of wines, including some cuvees that they are holding multiple vintages. The pressure must be coming on to discount as cash flow disctates the amount of stock that they can hold. In turn this will put pressure on producers, expecially given abundant 23 vintage.

It’s like they didn’t hedge the currency….

I think that is a misprint. I just looked on their website and 2011 Grivot CdV, for example, is $1143 for a 6 pack.

You would, of course, have to order it with chicken.

Objection: Duplicate joke.

Clos des Mouches is a reliably excellent age worthy wine. But it was around $40 back in 2002

The beaune greaves was around 30, the Cote de beaune (declassified young vines mouche) was 20.

I didn’t get 30% off but still very reasonable :)!

I think things will get very, very interesting with 2024s. My understanding is that volumes will again be way down (2023s are high volume) and quality will be more patchy. How are they going to price those??

Suspect in line with 23s and will be a chance to clear out some 23s and 22s still sitting around.
The danger is that it will be like 04 and 11 when many buyers pretty well skipped the vintage.

The (non-Christie’s/ Sotheby’s) auction market in my central EU region is reflecting something similar. Decent amount of less fashionable but high quality Burgs struggling to get pre-bids at 20-30% below what you would have seen circa 2 years ago while comparable quality “cult” ones enter live auctions close to or above the high estimate.

Just saw ‘23 Mugnier pricing from my local shop. Surprised at the prices. I don’t have a basis for comparison from him on ‘22 since I didn’t receive that email, but these are much lower than what ever see at shops online for whatever that is worth (probably not much).

You should probably buy them, then.

Lol. Yeah I put in an order for the Chambolle Village and the Fuees as those seemed like attractive prices (to me anyway).

Sounds like the allocations haven’t been finalized so not even sure I get anything. Hopefully the higher yields in 23 gets me a couple bottles :crossed_fingers:

They are nice wines; will take awhile to be ready to drink, though:
