I know it’s not “the market” but damn Burgundy pricing…

The first thing to learn is that the lowest retail price that you see listed today only tells you how much the wine isn’t selling for . If it were selling for that much, it wouldn’t be available anymore. If you want a certain wine today, you’re going to pay whatever the asking price is. If you want to get a good price, you have to wait until it’s offered for that much and probably jump on it pretty quickly.

The best way to get an idea of what a wine is worth is to look at the WMJ auction prices, which you can see for free on CT.

Current release pricing is a whole different beast and it’s been quite a while that you could often backfill for less than the current release. Sometimes that’s a good deal, sometimes the producer is making better wine today, so it’s not really apples to apples

I’m talking about secondary market retailers vs auction pricing. Auction pricing has been falling for about 3 years now and the retailers don’t seem to have caught on.

A quick search suggests Edulis is in Geneve, is that correct? Others you’d recommend? Flying into GVA in a week and will be in the region for a few days. Would enjoy visiting some local places. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

DM coming.

Edulis seems to be by referral only. May I give your name?

Bruh…?

It’s below WSP low :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Not worth it unless case quantity available.

I was just discussing this offer last week at dinner.

I am more concerned that a whole bottle was completely wasted at some point, being submitted to the indignity of a Wine Spectator tasting panel :)!

Technically yes but I bet it’s the same wine being advertised.

It would be fun to order this at a restaurant at full price, with no condition guarantee, just for the opportunity to stand up and shout “Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins!” at the top of my lungs. Because for $50k there’s no way they’re kicking me out.

That’s absolutely hilarious, I watched it five times cracked up and caught new one liners every time.

I have bought a number of burgs from Flickinger at what seemed like fair prices (insofar as they were competitive with what others on WS were offering), now I’m on their email list and I get an email each morning telling me what new stock is arriving. This morning they got a much larger amount than usual number of pre-arrival options and the prices are nearly in Cask Cartel territory, 4-5X what others are charging, here are some examples:

2007 Jadot Mazis Chambertin - $1045/bottle. Other US sellers on WS are at $200-250/bottle

2011 Dom. Eugenie Echezeaux - $2031/bottle. Other US sellers on WS at $390-450/bottle

2011 Faiveley Clos de Vougeot - $1129/bottle. Other US sellers on WS at $215-265/bottle

And then (wait for it….)

2014 Leroy VR 1’er Brûlées - $28,270/bottle. Other US sellers on WS are at right around $8000

I can’t think that Flickinger doesn’t think people know about Wine-Searcher, but maybe Cask Cartel doesn’t either :joy:. Seriously though, as I said, Flickinger usually seems to offers wine at fair/competitive prices. Who are they trying to kid with this batch? is this a deliberate strategy?

you sure those aren’t 6pks? (I didn’t get the email)

Yes, they are six packs, the stated price on the email is 6X amount of the prices i listed. I just divided it to get per bottle price.

I’m guessing this was a misprint by Flick.
