Hold off buying Air Cork wine preserver

I’ve now used this for two months and think it works great for very short change. The expanded ballon covers the entire surface AND the area above the wine. My last bottle in the fridge has not needed as much as a bit of an additional squeeze, love it.

Ron, what’s the longest you’ve kept an open bottle going with this gadget? It doesn’t prevent air contact during pouring, so I assume it wont work for long - term storage.

No David, this is just to avoid freezing or pouring into one of my many sized glass containers. I have a bottle of white in the fridge for almost three weeks and have not needed to adjust the pressure. I’ll drink it this weekend.

Actually I just got poured a glass and it had not changed an iota. BTW, someone asked somewhere about the latex. It is surgical quality and no off taste was present. My only unknown is how long the balloon will last without ordering a replacement which is easily applied.

Have you tried it on red ? It is kind of funny tool and cheap enough to just buy one and try it out…

hmmm i wonder how well this will work with a growler of beer… but i bet the balloon doesn’t expand far enough for that.

Hold off buying till I access if I screwed up.
I checked bottle this morning to find the balloon deflated and I do not know if itwas my fault.

Maybe it just needs a little Viagra.

Then the wine will at least last four hours.

But if more than 4 hours, call the winemaker.

this is the first wine gadget i’ve ever seen that really makes sense. very simple, easy to use, practical, cheap.

I do find the “Inflate” illustration here a bit alarming, though, in light of Ron’s experience and the prescription advice I offered: http://aircork.com/

check out the amazon reviews. Some complaints about it not holding shape after 5-6 hours. Some people can’t even get it to inflate (which is the trouble ron is having). But the most common complaint is after a few uses, it holds the air less and less with each use

the concept is sound but maybe the execution sucks.

gotta think you can make one of these pretty easily.

Mousetraps…they are all “better” mousetraps, sold a la PT Barnum.

You have got that right, so easy but poor execution.

I called them twice this morning and sent an email. Have you heard from the? Neither have I. [swearing.gif]

Well the owner (who was on Shark Tank) called me moments ago and was very apologetic. He said the balloon actually had been improved but maybe the valve was faulty and would send me out a whole new unit. I invited him to post here to add to the discussion. He said he was doing well but I suggested he stop offering all those new colors as that is a big inventory headache. He said the retailers told him the same thing. Lastly he said washing the balloon with hot water shrinks the latex back from the saggy shape that it becomes after being deflated after several days.
When I receive the replacement I will post more.

Replacement received and will report when next tested.

Thanks Ron!
