Has Anyone Been Drinking BerserkerDay Wines Lately?

In the last two months, I opened one each of @Adam_Frisch Rosé pack, which consisted of the Mariedam White Zinfandel, Eserra White Zinfandel and the Lanterna Flame Tokay. I figured if anyone could make a good white zinfandel, it would be Adam (no one else has convinced me to buy a white zin :joy:). In any case, both white zins are delicious, completely dry, with a hint of tannins. Both go fabulously with spicy or smokey foods. I served the Eserra yesterday with chicken chipotle tacos and previously served the Mariedam with curry chicken - yum! The Flame Tokay remains one of my all-time favorite rosés, but I have never been able to find the correct descriptors to really convey how fun, unusual, but more importantly, drinkable it is.

I recently had the 2023 Sabelli-Frisch Mariedam White Zin and thought it was super fun! Great acid

I gave it a shot, and my description (from CT) really doesn’t do it justice:

Fascinating and different. Has a cloudy “natural wine” look to it reminiscent of lambic beer. Mix of lemon, tangerine and Seville orange. Medium acidity, concrete/like mild minerality. Enjoyable!
Score: 93 (extra point for being so different)
Relative to expectations: ++

Here’s a photo to show what it looks like:

Nicely balanced with notes of apple, blossom and lemon curd. Paired very well with the chicken Dijon I made for dinner.

Really enjoying this 2022 Sabelli-Frisch Red Blend tonight! Great job on this @Adam_Frisch !

  • 2022 Royer Chardonnay Witzel & Wind Royer Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills (6/19/2025)
Slightly flinty/reductive upon first sniff, developing more of a classy tropical character and more emphasis on oyster shell with some air and 'warming' a bit in the glass. Beautifully balanced on the palate, nice texture with snappy acidity to lift the wine, salty citrus fruits, nice clean, stony finish. Very well made, can likely age for many years, but was a perfect pairing to chicken Florentine. My adoration for Willamette Valley Chardonnay continues to grow.

And??

It’s heating up on the East Coast (and a wee bit on the West Coast). I bought two mixed cases of German whites from @LisaT, one for my father and one for myself.
The Elbling “Der Spritzige” is the perfect summer white. Low alcohol, refreshing, ever-so-slightly effervescent. Both my parents thought it was chef’s kiss. (I love it too)
Rave reviews from my parents on the Riesling Schiefermineral as well - great with chicken stir fry.
I just opened my second bottle of Muskateller, which reminds me of a light, refreshing, “every-day” version of gewurztraminer.

My dad has been “suggesting” :joy: that I reorder Lisa’s white wines to ship to him.

I just met Sonoe from Six Cloves when I was in Napa for a wine event at Outer Space (very cool wine bar with a great local selection and also a huge German wine fan)!
Her wines are great, very elegant and made well.

Hi @AstridKG I love your description of the wines and that you enjoy them so much. Tell your dad I say hi!!

I can ship with ice packs as well :ice_cube: Feel free to message me with sommer wine suggestions.
The Elbling 2023 from Margarethenhof just won 93 points at the Sommeliers Choice Award this May!

I really enjoyed the Sabelli-Frisch Inedal Zin. 15%, all whole cluster. Big fruit but with whatever complicating attributes all those stems are bringing to the table. Seems like it would age nicely. Last couple of ounces were fairly viscous so I might try straining it next time.
Pictured is the end of the bottle—kind of looks like blood.

Opened a magnum of '21 Beau Rivage this weekend from BD14. I drank the 750s too soon and unfortunately this was my last bottle. Going off of memory but the '21 was better than the '20 and this magnum with some bottle age was another step up. Really nicely balanced and went really well with the Wisconsin cheese spreads a family member brought over.

A couple people asked me to buy some for them but it didn’t look like their website has been updated. @Frank_Ingriselli @William_Kelley - are you guys still making/selling this? I was going to reach out directly but thought I would start here first if anyone else was interested.

Agree '21 beats '20, and I think '22 and '23 are another step up, as we have refined pressing approaches, take even more solids, and mature longer on the lees. So yes, we’re still making it and probably going to do a release soon. Between Frank and my day jobs, we’re a bit behind with that
