Good Champagne < $30

It is getting harder and harder to find reasonably-priced Champagnes these days. Vitis is currently offering one for under $30 with free shipping for 3 or more bottles. The Collet NV isn’t super-complex but it is crisp, clean, and just biscuity enough to reflect its origin.

(Full disclosure - use this link to save $5, and I also get a some money off my next Vitis order)

I hosted a big Easter party and nearly ran out of NV Champagne - it is time to stock up. Does anyone else know of any good reasonably-priced options out there? In my experience most of the sparkling wine sales tend to come around Christmas-time, for obvious reasons.

As far as bubbles to, Mumm (blue and red label) and Iron Horse are really great values, IMO. As far as real champagne, tough price restriction with under $30.

Not Champagne, but very consistent and delicious recently has been Roederer Anderson Valley, around $20. Collet is very nice, but hard to find out here - a great deal if you can find it. $30 seems to be the cutoff for Champagne - might want to look at Cremant de Bourgogne or Prosecco or Cava, but I’ve yet to find one I like as much as a decent bottle of Champagne.

I can usually get Duval Leroy NV for $30. Deutz used to be $30 but that has gone up in recent years.

I would say pay up and buy some Bollinger if you can find it for $40 (current sale price)

If you can get over (or hide) the label, the Costco Kirkland Champagne is serious juice.

As Berserker Scott Claffee pointed out in his comment, “It is worth mentioning that the Kirkland Champagne is serious juice, not some industrial plonk. It is produced with care and attention by Manuel Janisson, a well-known Champagne producer with a long history in the region.”

PC had the Agrapart 7 Crus for $23 a year or two ago and I bought a bunch. Just delicious and a ridiculous value. Unfortunately I have now drunk the last one and will be looking for the next such coup

I’d love to get Agrapart 7 Crus for that price - it is truly an excellent wine. Thanks for the heads up about Kirkland Champagne. I tried and disliked it years ago, but they could very well be sourcing it from another House these days…

YES on the Kirkland! The current ‘crop’ is far better than it was several years ago. It wasn’t until reading here on Wine Berserkers how well it shows now that I was willing to give it another shot, as it was quite disappointing previously. It’s a great buy.

Do Winesearcher for some of your favorite NV or search some big store websites. Talk to your local store about special pricing. There are often local/regional promotions. I have found Roederer and Piper Heidsieck for $25 or less recently.

I picked up some Henriot on close out recently (at Pop’s) for $25. And I’ve seen Piper Heidsieck under $30 many times. Both seem like good buys for that $.

Here`s another vote for Roederer Estate sparkling brut and their brut rose. Priced reasonably and consistently very good sparklers.

Another vote for Kirkland Signature (Janisson) Champagne for $19.99. For cheaper, I’d go with Mumm ($14 at Costco) or Argyle Vintage Brut ($17 at various stores). I do not find any $30 Champagne that is better than the $20 Kirkland…at best you can find something that’s “just as good”, but you’ve paid $10 more…

WTSO for me.

Piper Heidsieck is the best year in and year out at around $30.

Amen, brother. But seriously, where can we find Agrapart for $23? I’d remove my washer and dryer and fill my entire pantry with it at that price.

Heidsieck Blue Top

That’s an incredible price. PC = Price Club? I have one of these remaining, but didn’t get it at your price. I agree about the juice. Best Agrapart I’ve had.

Premier Cru, Brad. It was July 2011.

I got some Agrapart 7 Crus for $33 fairly recently from PC. I don’t think it was a sale either, just the normal price.

Agrapart = Fight Club
