The second rule of Agrapart…
Envoyer’s had this several times for $29.99, and IMHO, is the best Champagne deal I’ve seen: NV R.L. Legras Chouilly Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs.
Envoyer had NV Paul Dethune Champagne Brut Grand Cru for $30 if you buy 6, and since I’m a full blown Ambonnay whore, I went in.
My friend gifted me a custom Champagne sabre, and I am looking for recommendations as to which should the first bottle opened with it. Around $30 would be great, but was also toying with the possibility of doing something like a Bollinger or Pierre Peters (both of which I have been wanting to try, but are a little pricier).
And yes, I have sabred many bottles before, but only using the back of a heavy kitchen knife. Should be fun!
Duval Leroy - seriously tasty stuff.
Domaine Belluard Terroir de Mont Blanc Brut Zero
the stuff kills and it’s about $25/bottle
The best deal on non-Champagne “champagne” around
Neal, did you already receive a wine from PC that you ordered only two years ago. Thats one early delivery.
This and the Piper Sonoma Blanc de Noir are our go-to for sub-$20 bubbles.
Yes or no - Kirkland brand Champagne would be a good wine gift?

I can usually get Duval Leroy NV for $30.

Just picked up one of these. It’s around $36 here locally.

Dan, here in San Diego, Duval Leroy sells for $27, and it would be my choice as a gift.

PC had the Agrapart 7 Crus for $23 a year or two ago and I bought a bunch. Just delicious and a ridiculous value. Unfortunately I have now drunk the last one and will be looking for the next such coup
ridiculous price for this very damn good Champagne!! Wish I would have seen this offer . . . oh, I forgot, I still do not get their email flyers!!! Your scored, Neal.
If you can get over (or hide) the label, the Costco Kirkland Champagne is serious juice.

As Berserker Scott Claffee pointed out in his comment, “It is worth mentioning that the Kirkland Champagne is serious juice, not some industrial plonk. It is produced with care and attention by Manuel Janisson, a well-known Champagne producer with a long history in the region.”
Thanks! I’ll seek that out.
Meantime, I’ll be drinking ridiculously inexpensive Cava from Spain!
Best,
Kenney

+1
I think this category is where PC really shines. Ive bought Hebrart, Aubry, Simonet from $20 to $30 fairly recently from them. They seem to blow out decent to good champagne every couple of months at great prices. In my experience they have never taken long to deliver on Champagne in this category either.
You can often get Aubry for ~$30. Worth it.
agree that wtso has probably the best <30 champagne. I bought a bottle of the Kirkland but it was DOA so need to get another to try.

Be careful with the WTSO bubbly. I got 2 cases last year of oxidized Champagne and 2 more bottles already this year.

That’s good advice in general, and it appears that Champagne/sparkling is much more sensitive to heat than most wines.
