BlockquoteBurden is on shipper or recipient to purchase insurance.
Many shippers forego due to the high cost and low incidence rate. In essence they self insure. Some shippers push the optional cost to the buyer. If you don’t take it, you’re SOL
In the old days there used to be a minimum insurance value included in the shipping price, usually $100. Pretty sure that was eliminated at some point in time
This…because even if you pay for insurance, they can refuse the claim. I still do it for most high value shipments in the remote hope it will pay off. $100 is still standard with FedEx and I believe UPS as well.
New first for me with Fedex. I had to get my drivers license. 57 years old. I have been receiving deliveries for over 20 years. So, now I get to wait all day for the driver and then get carded. Glad I have been reducing my purchases from mailing lists. I understand its just bringing my id to the door, but there is cohesion between drivers.

Literally the same thing happened to me today with FedEx. The driver scanned the back of my driver’s license that has the QR Code looking strip. Sandlands delivered without a hitch, bottles were cool and no popping corks. YES!!!
Yup. And the winery will have to eat the cost of the bottles and re-ship you new ones. Not fun for wineries.
Fedex has been doing that to me for the last year
The driver said the same thing, but last week I took 2 deliveries without them asking. At best I look 49😂
Going forward I will just have my ID ready. Not a huge deal, same house 20 years without. I guess I am young enough to change with the times!!
And that’s ridiculous. Given that it was 1 of 3 packages and two made it to me in that lot, that should be on them. But i get it, they’re never admit negligence on their side, easier to kick the packaging. Still bullshit.

I just can’t…antiquated laws and poor customer service are the cause of all these posts…simply unacceptable on both parts. I did just have a great customer service with VineVault and GLS. If able, will choose UPS over FedEx, only because they give me a 2-4 hour window vs 12 hour window, and I can see where they are on a GPS map. Not sure why we can’t have better customer service with the most expensive delivery I personally have, coupled with the most valuable and fragile product I have shipped. It is just simply stupid

I recently had a similar experience. I am 37 and never get carded (though I have a lot of gray hair and wear hearing aids). My 70 year-old mother was visiting recently, and a FedEx delivery of wine happened to show up. She answered the door, and the driver carded her! I was floored.
Punked by UPS today. News to me that my business was closed today for Veterans Day. Wonder what I was doing there! Now I have a case sitting in a trailer all weekend, luckily the high is mid 60s.
After the pandemic largely subsided FedEx implemented a corporate policy to require ID checks for alcohol. It is a documented part of their corporate policy. Granted not all contract drivers comply with it, but the full-time FedEx employees have to or they risk termination.
Yep
They card and scan me every time for almost a year

It’s not 100% for me, but the vast majority.
My rate is about 50%, but I live in a building with secure package room that FedEx has access to. My driver seems to rotate, so it’s hard to build a rapport.
UPS on the other hand: same driver during the work week, sees my name and knows I’m over 21, and leaves if everytime.

We have doormen, plus the demographics here more or less matches you local symphony orchestra audience.
Yep. I see two UPS drivers most of the time and they both know me well enough by now.
Here is a new realm of screw up FedEx is exploring.
Tracking my last three shipments I saw three notices the boxes were going to be delivered earlier than normal.
Great said I.
“No way sucker!” should have been the next tracking update.
A pattern has emerged with FedEx lately. We’re rural, and apparently, last on the list. Pezzato delivery yesterday, estimated delivery between 11:50 and 2:50 - cool, cool.
2:50 comes and goes. Later it goes to “by the end of the day”
time passes…
later it goes to “pending”
more time passes.
meanwhile, I have to work super late (like all night), so I’m going to bed at 8:30 so I can wake at 11 to do my work.
9:05pm in Rural NW Oregon, the. F’r FINALLY shows up, just as I’m FINALLY nodding off for my (hopeful) 2 hour sleep.
This isn’t Pezzato, no harm no foul for them, but showing up after 9 expecting a signature? And this isn’t the first time, as I said - this is becoming a pattern.
F’ FedEx. They SO suck.
Again, not defending anyof the carriers, but why not have it held at any number of FedEx sites and pick up at your convenience?
