Ha!

Guess what folks - they all suck, just in different way (and some of the same ways). Switching to FedEx is going from the frying pan into the fire.

Absolutely maddening. Barcode scanned onto a delivery truck for delivery this morning at 6:39AM. Exactly 4 hours later a Shipping Exception: Barcode label unreadable and replaced. Presumably the same freaking barcode that has been scanned almost 20 times already including exactly 4 hours earlier. What did they do? Pull it off the delivery truck to scan it again? Nope. I’m throwing the BS flag.

if the barcode is unreadable, how are they scanning it to know which item it is?

If I explained the process they go through would you believe me?

I’m sure many of us can commiserate.

I wonder what’s in the cat food that it requires an adult signature!

Probably just heavy and they don’t want to unload it.

I basically prefer FedEx to UPS because there is a FedEx store near me and I can get a free re-route. FedEx drivers in San Francisco (at least for my neighborhood) also typically made more of an effort to contact me to sign for packages, while the UPS drivers would just do the ā€œattempted deliveryā€ thing even when I was at home.

However, since I normally don’t get to choose carriers, I basically bit the bullet recently and got a subscription to UPS ($20 a year) to get re-directs to a local UPS store (considerably farther away for me). Now, it doesn’t make too much of a difference (besides the longer walk to UPS)

Neither are great, but not much you can do.

You don’t get mugged on the way back from the UPS store?

Now that’s funny! That’s a very polite way of what I would like to say.

I’m a pretty big guy. I think the muggers are more afraid of me than I am of them.

You must live on the other side of town from me. My UPS driver is excellent and I rarely have to reschedule or hold a UPS package.

Meanwhile, Fedex is like - we will deliver between 10-2 and then show up at 8 (if at all). And when you are returning back from travel and need to find time to go to Costco, it is really annoying. I really wish they attempted to give some sort of update. I am on the line of sending everything to the FedEx store a few blocks from me at this point.

I think it is really dependent on the driver. My old FedEx driver was great – very responsive and always tried to deliver the package. Lately, the new FedEx driver has been doing the ā€œattempted deliveryā€ thing, so I just redirect to the FedEx store. Not worth waiting around.

I had a Fedex ā€œcold chainā€ shipment arrive this week. Bottle temps were between 72.9 and 76.8 degrees. !@#$%^ FedEx.

I doubt it was cold chain on the Last Mile delivery.

I’m thinking the Last Mile started the night before.

I just have everything sent directly to a FedEx Office location. No extra fee, never a missed delivery, and I can pick it up on my schedule.

+1
I dislike unscheduled deliveries when I have places to go.

Here is FEDEx at its best?
Two weeks ago, shipment to be delivered on Friday as per tracking data, a no show.
Monday was next, no show, but on truck and out for delivery?!?
Tuesday they no longer know where it is because it is on a train.
Wednesday, it shows late in the day.
Really?

Don’t depend on FEX Ground to deliver on Monday if it’s FEX Ground. They usually work Tuesday thru Saturday.
