FedEx Is Coming Apart at the Seams

Gotta hand it to them, they waste no time in delaying your package!

Had some wine coming today but snow storm hit so one day delay. I am good with that.

Glad I asked Bella Oaks to hold off for a month. Hopefully they are also able to switch mine to UPS.

Apparently Chicago has issues with FedEx! No issues in Minneapolis.

I had a case shipped from Oregon to Southern California routed through Ohio [rofl.gif]

Luckily, winery said they would replace!

Anyone have an issue with shipment being stuck in Tracy, CA specifically? Mine has been sitting there for three days now with no movement at all…

Was your wine damaged? While running your shipment through Ohio seems ridiculous, why should the winery replace your wine? Just curious.

Things were stickier in Tracy for one of my shipments and my friends golf club sat there longer than three days as well.
Patience Grasshopper.

Did you eventually get your package? Bit worried with no movements at all.

I live in Jacksonville FL. I think bar none, every 2-Day express shipment over the last 4 months has been delayed to 3 or 4 days. The primary issue seems to be JAX. Packages, including non-wine, seem to get lost for a time - maybe not unloaded, maybe not scanned in, whatever. One delivery was never scanned in or out of the JAX facility, and it took an investigation to find it was delivered to my local Walgreens, who as luck would have it, failed to scan it in. My ā€œfavoriteā€ story of late….a ground shipment……was that I received a delivery update for a wine delivery on Wednesday Feb. 23, and when I checked on its location late in the day, it was New Mexico, but still scheduled to be delivered.

Was your ground shipment ultimately delivered or still stuck in NM? Mine is still sitting in Tracy, CA with expected delivery date of this coming Monday…and I’m in NY. Sigh.

Delivered Friday, thankfully.

Both my shipment and my friend’s golf club did get delivered.

have several wine shipments arriving this week and all 3 attempts to deliver to my offsite were at 6AM… oh well I guess ill go pick them up. First time in years that FedEx has been this bad

So I have a question. I received a 3-btl shipment of PN that I had requested, twice, be held until at least the end of March or early April. It spent six days on a FedEx truck, at least three in weather as low as -6 degrees. It’s irritating that my request was not honored, let alone I received no notification it had shipped. The winery said if something’s off, they will replace, but how do I know if something’s off? I opened a bottle today and it just doesn’t taste as good as previous bottles, but I can’t exactly say what or if something’s wrong. I’ve described their PN as ā€˜perfumey’ in the past, but only get a faint taste of that in the background from this particular wine. I’m not a wine connoisseur, so I’m a little uneasy about complaining. What does these types of fridged temps even do to wine? Vintage is 2016 from Sta Rita Hills. I’ve been buying from them for about 4-5 years, mostly on BD, but also from e-mail sales. I love their PN. Any suggestions?

Rick. If all the corks are sound (not pushed up) your wine will be fine. That’s been my experience having wine shipped during cold weather

Thanks, Dale, they are screwcaps. But I’ve heard the same as what you’re saying. It’s just I also hear about wineries ā€˜waiting for the weather to get better’ during the winter.

Curious if you opened the bottle to ā€˜check’ or on your own timeline? The fact that your request was not honored and then went sideways on top of it has me leaning towards asking for a replacement.
