Favourite wine music

Curious to learn about peoples musical choices when contemplating over a glass of wine. Steely Dan is on heavy rotation here usually, The Weeknd is a more contemporary favourite. For white burgundy I really like the Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue album. Glenn Gould playing Bach feels very appropriate for older, more complex wines.

Nothing specific for me, but this did come to mind. Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs

Rammstein for Burgundy.

Big Band if I’m by myself, Count Basie in particular. Some jazz and funk mixed in, anything out of New Orleans is always on rotation.

Usually jazz! I prefer Mikes Davis, Hank Mobley, Johnny Griffith, and Thelonius Monk

I had a song association Eureka moment while drinking a 2014 Rolet Arbois Vieilles Vignes recently:

If I were really limited to one pick: I have an old DG LP pressing with Haydn 88 on one side and Haydn 89 on the other. They make me so happy that wine tastes better!

Love the topic, thank you!

Above and Beyond and Seven Lions are my choices for drinking music.

Seven Lions (great with Riesling):

Acoustic Above and Beyond (great with Burgundy):

Once when visiting with Aaron Pott he started talking about the Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg album so someone started playing it. Funky, international 70’s stuff from before my time but I always associate that with wine and sometimes play it when enjoying a wine evening.

Roxy Music - Bryan Ferry is usually good for most any mood.
From any Roxy Music album to Bryan Ferry’s “As Time Goes By” album.

I don’t have favorite combinations of wine and music ( and I’m a musician)… most important is that I like both.
It doesn’t make any sense if soneone suggests Rammstein for (e.g) Madiran … and I can’t stand Rammstein … etc.

Gimme Shelter … Stones.

Oh wait! I listen to it whether I’m drinking wine or not.

one of my wine epiphany moments was listening to fugazi while drinking some hubert lignier village wine at terroir in the east village 10-12 years ago.

Top four… Miles Davis Kind of Blue, Buena Vista Social Club, Springsteen Live 1975 - 1985, and the Netflix soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop (kids got it for me halfway as a joke but it’s surprisingly good).

Honorable mentions to Bo Burmham’s Inside LP and the Hamilton soundtrack.

Agree - if I am sipping well aged claret, I want to be listening to something ‘laid Bach’. With less august wines some quiet jazz will do (been listening to a fair bit of Mehldau latel)
