Napa Cabernet and MH 2023 is out today, $255 and $375 per 3 pack… Shipping costs are around $50, however that is offset by the incredible value of their wines.
I still can’t believe the Beckstoffer MH remains unchanged in price. $125/bottle. ![]()
Such a great value for a SV wine.
I’ve been super happy with base Napa Cab too.
Shipping is prorated the more you buy. You can get a case shipped for $90.
As a Beckstoffer vineyard wine, how much less expensive is their version vs other winery’s versions from the same vineyard? Really curious to hear . . .
Wheeler Farm is $245, I think Taub is $200, but Fait Main is only releasing at this price for 2 weeks, I believe it then goes up to $175…
Wonder what Beckstoffer thinks of this? Aren’t they very specific as to how much - or little - a winery has to charge based on how much they pay for fruit?
Cheers
That is a good point, I thought Beckstoffer set a minimum price per bottle based on site.
They do - how they ‘enforce’ it is an unknown.
Cheers
I used to buy B Cellars MH. (2014-18) I think it was around $225 and then I got 20% off.
I just looked at their 2022 MH. $325! ![]()
ouch, and that is the 2022 vintage ![]()
I think they request a SRP minimum per bottle, however since these are being sold via mailing list and the prices are not ‘visible’ they probably get away with it, however my other guess is that they probably make very little on the DTC and only when they well to retail/restaurants.
My guess is that they understand this in a police it as well. They seem to be very, very, very strict about this MSRP requirement and I’d be surprised if any Winery, regardless of who they are, is able to get away with much. And that is why I asked about the price relative to others. It shouldn’t be radically different and if it is, my guess is that it won’t stay that way for long ![]()
Yup unless they remove MH from the label ![]()
I was looking forward to this release, and in for a six pack of the Miss Hopper. This wine is delicious, and tough to beat at the price point. Now, the wait begins for the Las Piedras and Tiera Roja release ![]()
Does anyone know if they are adding another wine to the 23 portfolio?
Does this drink well out the gate or does it need a couple of years? I am sitting on a 2021 and wondering if it is a good time
For my palate, they drink pretty well early on. That being said, I’ve noticed an appreciable difference with just one year of cellaring for past vintages. I try my best to hold on as long as I can…with little success.
I had the 21 Las Piedras a few months ago and it was wonderful with about an hour in the decanter and then back to the bottle for another 3.
My experience is that the FM MH is more approachable at an early age than the Las Piedras. Still, I would decant a 2023 FM MH for at least 3-4 hours. I opened a 2018 FM Las Piedras in October and gave it a double decant of 4-5 hours, after which it was singing but still youthful.
Becklyn’s Missouri Hopper is $125, but I don’t recall seeing “Beckstoffer” anywhere on the label just “Missouri Hopper.”
This is definitely a Beckstoffer vineyard - again, surprised that there is so much variance in pricing on this as opposed to other Beckstoffer properties . . .
Cheers
I could be wrong but if you don’t put Beckstoffer then maybe you don’t need to hit the min pricing
