Fait Main 2023 Release

I would be surprised if that is the case; they seem to be somewhat fanatical that if you purchase their fruit, you have to abide by ‘their rules’ and charge accordingly.

Perhaps @Roy_Piper or @Adam_Lee can offer some insight into this?

Cheers

Hi Alexander - My first post on this platform - first of all - thank you for highlighting our release at Fait-main wines
We are excited about the new 2023 vintage that comes along with great wines as expected but also a new packaging that will more a representation of what I intended to do years ago.
Regarding the price on the wines:
I wanted to have blue label to be over delivering for the price point - we Harv a fantastic source of grapes emerging from Calistoga with a potential to became a single vineyard designated
For Missouri Hopper: I had a contract since 2018 and I chose to place myself at the lowest price allowed by Beckstoffer’s vineyard - I think it is impure at yo offer value to our consumer while other wineries choose to raise their price.
Happy to answer any questions on that topic

No reason to change the price here, we have been stable thru the year and hope to maintain reasonable pricing. This is important for us to remain accessible and over deliver

Hi Larry,
The min price depends on the contract you have with beckstoffer
At $125 we are at the minimum price bottle, some people decide or have to go higher
It is either contract related or self decision base on belief that higher price point create an idea of a better wine
I hope this help

Thank you for your reply - and that makes sense.

One more question - and you don’t need to answer if you don’t want to . . .

But are there different blocks at Missouri Hopper where pricing is different and therefore min pricing would be?

Cheers

Thank you Benoit for your response I think that responds to a lot of our questions. This is one of the reasons I love this forum

@B.Touquette would love to know what recent vintages 2023 reminds you of. Thanks!

Thank you and here is what I know
Like all Beckstoffer Heritage Vineyard, there are different blocks - we are on block B and C as an example
The price could be related the block of it is a new plantation and young fruit but if not the minimum price will depends on when you sign your contract
The most recent typically the highest minimum price per bottle you will see

It has been a while since we have a long most likely uneventful ssason with a great crop load and healthy yield.
Since I arrived in 2004, I would say it could resemble 2005, in terms of crop and dates of picking decision
But the nose seems fruitier with some red , blue fruit and classic Cabernet Sauvignon qualities and the density and texture are gorgeous.

I tasted with Benoit yesterday afternoon, mainly the 2022s, I also got to taste the 2023 Napa Cabernet. Like many on the forum I held back on the 2022 purchases, given the hyped up 2023 (which was valid), however his 2022s were showing very well with enough structure and balance to show the different vineyards and their characteristics. The MH and the LP were my favourites , so an easy buy for me this morning for his MH 2023. These wines punch was above their price point especially for the Beckstoffer sites

What were your thoughts on the '23 Napa, and did you have a chance to taste the '23 MH? I picked up a six pack and am kicking around the idea of going back in for 3 more. For $125 its an amazing wine, and I was happy to see that they kept the pricing the same.

Any thoughts on 22 Tierra Roja?

I did not try the MH 2023 but just the 2022 MH was enough to make me bite for the 2023. Will 100% buy the LP when it is released later this year.

It had this great chalky iron style mid palate probably due to the rocky nature of the site. However I preferred the LP and MH.

They are great wines. The 2022 MH was my favorite 2022 except for Pezzato ‘I Nonni’

Hi Alexander -
Thank you for your question
2003 could remind me of 2005, in a sense of a late most likely uneventful season, late picking and high yield
Good concentration on the wines with a classic profile
It has been a long time with the drought year, fire year and large heat spell year that we could pick at our own leisure in every single site accross the valley.

Great observation
the difference in style from TOR is that we are picking earlier then they used to do in the past
We also installed some cross arms in the vineyards to create shade and a more control environment for crop repartition and light diffusion.
As well we are dialing in the irrigation, fertilization and all vineyard practices.

Brian, 23 napa comes from a new site in Calistoga
Which happen to ripen early and have water so you will see a fresh, classic expression of Cabernet Sauvignon across the board
I am very happy with it
This wine is getting better and better every year
We will soon be able to talk about the sourcing with his adjacent of Blair vineyard in Calistoga
