Vineyard workers are essential to the Washington state wine industry and their contributions often go unsung. Crafted with donated grapes from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, proceeds from the sale of this wine benefit health care of Columbia Valley vineyard workers at the Othello Clinic. Those of you who bought past vintages of this wine have helped fund preventive health screening events for vineyard workers from Stillwater Creek in 2023 and 2024. More info on that here. Label artwork is based on a photo I shot of the crew harvesting my fruit by printmaker Christie Tirado.
My 2022 is 92% Merlot with 8% Cabernet Sauvignon from Stillwater Creek but I call it Royal Slope Red Wine because people are still so weird about the word Merlot. Thanks a lot, Sideways.
2022 Orr ‘Royal Slope Red’ Red Wine- This 2022 ‘Royal Slope Red’ is Merlot with 8% Cabernet Sauvignon blended in. Also stored in all neutral oak before bottling this opens with anise and black currants alongside tar and tobacco leaf. The palate is very elegant and refined with good structure and underlying finesse. A beautiful wine to savor now, enjoy over the next eight years to come. Drink 2024-2032- 92 points Owen Bargreen
This 2022 Royal Slope Red showcases remarkable depth and elegance. Showcasing a glowing medium ruby-blue core with a light pink rim. Aged exclusively in neutral oak barrels, the wine reveals enticing aromas of dark cherries, ripe blackberries, and a hint of mocha, underscored by a subtle touch of dried fruits. On the palate, it unfolds with a velvety texture, delivering a harmonious blend of juicy blackcurrant, red plum, and cocoa nibs. Hints of espresso and a delicate spice thread add complexity to its smooth, lingering finish. 93 points International Wine Report

The 2023 Grenache is 100% Grenache from two Royal Slope AVA vineyards, Stillwater Creek and Lawrence Vineyard Corfu Crossing. Raised in neutral oak barrels, the wine is bright and fresh with aromas of cran-raspberry and black tea. I’ve not yet released this new vintage to my mailing list or my distributors, this here is what we call a Berserker Day exclusive debut.
The 2023 is not yet rated. 2022 Royal Slope Grenache “ is a radiant expression of the Royal Slope AVA. Aged in neutral oak barrels, it greets the nose with an inviting bouquet of wild strawberries, cranberry compote, and a touch of dried rose petals, layered with hints of cinnamon and crushed dried wildflowers. The palate is graceful and precise, showcasing a silky texture and vibrant purity of red Bing cherry flavors. Tannins are perfectly balanced with the moderate acidity and lengthy, decadent finish." 95 points International Wine Report
The 2023 Columbia Valley Salumeria is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Sangiovese and 8% Merlot. The Cab and Merlot grapes come from Stillwater Creek and the Sangio is from Dick Boushey’s Glen’s block. This savory blend has notes of red cherry and cranberry offset by earth and herbs and it tastes great with salami. This is the first vintage of the Salumeria blend.
2023 Salumeria blend –“This distinctive Columbia Valley blend unveils a stunning medium-dark purple-ruby core, framed by a radiant red rim. Aromas of ripe dark cherries and lush blue plums intermingle with dried Mediterranean herbs and a whisper of violet, creating an alluring bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with a lively texture, showcasing vibrant acidity and crunchy tannins that bring freshness to each sip. The finish is long and savory, practically begging to be paired with a selection of cured meats and aged cheeses.” 92 Points International Wine Report

Origin Story
My first harvest was in Napa Valley in 1998 with Cathy Corison. Then I went to wine school at UC Davis, worked harvest internships at Cain, Gary Farrell, Domaine Dujac, Yering Station and was the enologist at Rudd for a couple years before I moved up here to Washington state. I run an enology lab and winemaking consulting business here for wineries including Baer, also participating in BD16 check them out. My brand Orr has mainly been sold through distributors to restaurants and wine shops around Seattle and New York City – I launched this direct-to-consumer business in a response to the pandemic. Frankly, it’s been learning by doing hustling like this but it’s been fun to personally connect with my customers and I love to see your posts after you taste my wines. Much love for my team in the vineyard and cellar who make it possible to share my wine with you! Super honored to have made the shortlist to be included in today’s offers (Thank you Todd, Brig and Patrick ). Cheers to Berserker Day, everybody!
