This thread inspired me to open a 2006 August West Rosella’s Syrah. Popped and poured. Very little sediment. Gorgeous color with little bricking. Spicy and savory with good length. Very impressed and happy to have a couple more.
I just came across a case of 2006 August West Pinots that I had forgotten. Six each of the Graham Family Vineyard (Russian River) and Rosella’s. Looking forward to these. I’ve never been disappointed in Ed’s wines.
I have a fair bit of Sandler wines from different vintages and vineyards. His prices are so reasonable and include shipping. More importantly, every time I open one, I want to get many more! He sources from incredible vineyards, his wines are so expressive, and they are better than many others from these sources that cost 2x more. Reminds me to place another order….
I’ve grabbed a six pack or four pack of Ed’s PNs the last few years. Really ENJOYABLE drinking wines, and my wife thinks that I am a genius wine guru for discovering them.

I really enjoy the Sandler Pinots, young and with some age. I especially love bringing them to events/dinners with “civilians” because I find them both nuanced and just plain tasty. Recently had a 2018 Lazare vineyard cabernet made in a lovely, restrained style with a nice minty note. It doesn’t hurt the wines are screaming deals.
Thank you, Brig and everyone for all the compliments. Reading these make the long harvest days well worthwhile. I’m still waiting on some Cab Sauv, Cab Franc and Santa Cruz Moutains Chard that is still sitting at 20 brix. I didn’t think this was going to be the latest harvest for me ever, but it looks like that Chard will break the record.
I marvel at the alcohol consumption every Halloween party, as it’s basically the same crew, yet the consumption of alcohol changes every year. Last year, the handles of vodka and tequila were the hit, people making their own simple vodka or tequila soda drinks, year before, we ran out of the cocktails in the big containers, year prior to that we ran out of beer. This year the handles of booze were almost untouched, the beer/seltzer almost untouched, it was mostly wine! Probably because we had some Berserker faves like Sandler there, and quite a few other BerserkerDay sellers!
Chris, they’re from the Weiler Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, actually within the city of Sonoma. Most of their vineyard is Merlot, and most of it goes to Duckhorn.
