Eating and Drinking in Los Angeles

Ate there just a couple of weeks ago. Classic.

Anyone have thoughts on Crab House on Vermont in Koreatown?

I’m a big fan of Lawrys. Water grill is an ok seafood restaurant on ocean ave. They have a decent view. They also have free corkage.

Pricey, but Avra is in Beverly Hills and has great seafood.

They have good lunch deals.

Went to Pijja Palace to catch the tournament. Samosa pizza, lamb burger, BBQ wings were very tasty. Liked the cocktails and ok beer selection. I’d go back.

soban is better imo

I’ve heard mixed reviews. Has anyone gone yet?

Of all the restaurants, this one is most perplexing.
I did not like the food, except for the wings. But it’s ever so popular.

I wouldn’t call it classic, but my favorite steakhouse, Cut, is right in Beverly Hills. You can probably look online to see if it’s the vibe you’re looking for.

I liked the sauces, so it worked for me. I was ok with the texture of the pizza because I thought what was on top tasted good. I was lukewarm on the onion rings but they’re kind of like a blank canvas for dipping.

Stopped here on our last trip to LA. There are a couple of dishes that will haunt my dreams. Definitely worth a stop.

I have trouble following the links back. You’re talking about Soban?

That’s correct. Soban was one of highlights from our trip.

Kuya Lord was also fantastic.

Thanks very much!

I am not at all interested in any responses relating to your political opinions or anything like that, but do any of you think Republique’s recent statement, interpreted by some (a lot?) of people as saying they are on the side of Elon Musk (or even MAGA in general) will have a material effect on its business going forward in the short and/or long term? Do you think enough people will actually know about the statement and even if they do, will enough people (and people who actually would go to Republique) actually care to an extent that would make them choose to avoid Republique? I find it a potentially interesting case study in an industry that purportedly has little room for error.

Lawry’s was my late fathers favorite restaurant. I’m not a huge fan of prime rib, but their steak was pretty good though.

Definitely have a lot of good memories over there.

It seemed like a pretty mild statement about liking a Tesla.

Very different from the chef in Gravitas in DC who applauded Musk’s activities there.

I’ve been wanting to go to Republique for years, and still do. I cancelled my reservation at Gravitas in spite of a great InKind offer.
