DP 2012 released

I’d love to know how the assemblage is done to ensure consistency from bottle to bottle. Must be a tank the size of Lake Erie.

It’s not so complicated: they’ll figure out the blend, then rack the appropriate volume from tank a, tank b, tank c etc to a blending tank for a tirage. Then repeat. Each tirage is thus composed of the same blend. It’s the same for all large wineries. I’m sure Lafite don’t own a tank big enough to hold the entire production either, for example.

Had the 12 Cristal that I wasn’t all impressed with. Worth it to buy the 08 DP? Wasn’t a fan of the 10 vintage.

What wasn’t impressive about it? 12 Cristal is super locked down atm fwiw.

It was super super tart and primary lemon flavor. Needs a lot more time imo.

Did you expect anything else?

12 Cristal is at least 5 years from entering a good drinking window. It isn’t 09.

I really enjoyed the book Champagne Uncorked about the House of Krug. Really thorough description of the blending process to maintain their house style.

The 2009 I had was also a lemon bomb. I think some people just like that in champagne.

I wasn’t expecting a lemon bomb like crickey mentioned.

Pretty much what all the tasting notes have said.

If you don’t like it you should probably drink something else. There’s actually a thread about this.

Not what a read on CT.

You read it was rich and ready to drink? Ok

Not rich. But not extremely tard/lemon bomb.

Could be a useful data point for the future. Generally unless I know the poster I trust CT notes about as much as suckling scores. I’ve never had a young Cristal that wasn’t young linear acidic and focused, even the 09 was in ‘17.

Copy thanks for the info. I had never tried before so I wanted to taste it for myself. Definitely quality fruit, just needs a lot more ageing imo.

Any estimates on when 2012 DP will hit the West Coast? Probably not till next year due to all the port/shipping issues?

huge stack of 2010 in Costco today.

Hmm. $200 per bottle is not anything special.

Ya I was hoping to see 170.
