Any guesses on which winery this is? Darioush perhaps?
I donât believe Darioush sources from Diamond Mountain and is no where close to $200+.
Constant/Diamond Mountain Vineyards comes to mindâŚ
I think umami in the description is the tipoff -
Whatâs it a tip-off of?
Only 17 cases left
Constant / Diamond Mountain. Umami, not the most common word, is in the winemakerâs bio
But the description says it was made by a consulting winemaker; is that the umami guy? So, they bought some juice and made their own wine?
Could this be The Vineyardist? Tony Biagi makes their wine, so he could be âconsultingâ and they are usually above $200 and high elevation. I donât see that they have made a Can Franc, however.
Found this reference for Constant/Diamond Mtn:
âVecchiarelli ⌠is excited to work alongside his small team and with Consulting Winemaker, Paul Hobbs.â
And from Diamond Mtn Vineyardsâ web site: âUnder the stewardship of winemaker Kevin Vecchiarelli and consulting winemaker Paul HobbsâŚâ
Elsewhere - âHobbs has received more than ten 100-point scores across his portfolioâŚâ
Seems to fit (and yes I bought)âŚ
My cousin was just in Napa last week and visited Vineyardist and Diamond Mountain Vineyard. He had CF at both and said both were great.
With respect to Vineyardist, the retail price at the tasting room for one bottle of CF was $395/bottle - so probably not this one. The CF at Diamond Mountain Vineyard was $225, so more aligned with the price point.
I bought a case. It better be glorious. I really only would prefer six of these, but the price point just doesnât make sense. $35 a bottle for the first six then $22 a bottle for the last six.
I know Iâve thrown this out in the past, but in case there are any new people in the San Antonio area, Iâd happily split cases like this with someone locally. For Napa bottles over $25, I usually prefer to just have six. I do see myself over buying over the next six months and hopefully they pan out like the 2018 finally have
Apparently, this purchase pushed me over the threshold of $3000 so I get a few more points in credit credits:)
Question for the pros: does it make sense to wax the bottles for long term storage (5+ years)?
I have a waxing kit for my beer brewing setup.
And sold out. I passed as I have too much current lot 385-530 dN that is currently aging. But my FOMO was kicking with this one!!!
Never seen discounts offered on full cases, thatâs impressive.
No. You wax your beer bottles?
I was considering this. havenât bought any dN for months, and cab frac is a rare enough offer. Being sold out certainly makes that decision (or currently, non-option) easier.
Yes because beer oxidizes through bottle caps during cellaring.
Any source guesses on this one? I would guess that a $50 SB from Paso is rare and I would further guess that Vina Robles doesnât sell one that high.
Also, does it sound like oak aging or stainless steel aging to you all? I am worried that it is a âreserveâ SB with oak aging.
Interested in this one for some friends.
