Tasting notes are not a direct match, but some similarities '23 vs '24. The Daou does see some new oak, which I would not have guessed reading either note.
Not dead to me. I’m interested in having both as options. I expect to buy quite a bit of 2023 offers. So can better hurry up before I run out of storage and money. (I think I’ll run out of storage before I run out of money).I didn’t buy the founding membership. So I’m a free agent.
Not dead to me either. Might be dead once Cam begins with his new offers, we will see, but a little competition is good! Plus, dN still offers the rewards program, so that keeps it attractive.
FWIW, I reached out to support about the oak treatment. They said for some lots they receive details about the production & aging from their source and other times they don’t. In this case they said they didn’t receive that info and can’t say one way or the other (or maybe their agreement restricted that info). I suppose in this case you just have to go by the description, which would lead me to believe this has low-ish oak treatment. I’m on the fence because I could really use some daily drinker Sauv Blanc for pool side this summer! I will be disappointed if it lends more to Fume blanc style, which can be great with food, but not ideal on a hit day when you need something crushable.
I wavered on this one. While the note makes it sound delicious, I was wishing it was $20 cheaper. Also, I have less than no space to put this. In the end, I bought it anyway.
My first guess is that this is up north, more north than most would guess. Pine Mountain, Northern Alexander Valley or Dry Creek. Whatever mountains exist up there. I say that because $60 is not all that expensive for a Reserve Cabernet.
Peterson Winery on Bradford Mountain came to mind, but I don’t see that they offer a reserve Cab for $60. Their regular Cab is around $45.
