De Negoce offer (Part 2)

in for 2, and I may get 3-4 496 … we’ll see

Highly doubt the 497 is Lokoya or Cardinale…KJ would just use the juice in other bottlings…and not really a winemaking team, as they shower Chris with all the accolades (well-deserved, of course).

Note that there are a lot of mixed reviews of 2022 vintage…it was highly variable across all regions, esp Cabs. Some higher-end places are ditching the vintage all together, others blending into lower-priced bottles. And others have some stunning vino (so they say). I’m pretty sure that '18, '19, '21, '23, and probably '24 will all be seen as stellar, but expect to see more '20 and '22 being offered all over.

Agree with this.

Also, my 2021 Lokoyas were $500/bottle from the winery. I am sure that dN would have said north of $500 if that was the case. Cardinale is primarily Howell (and maybe Veeder?). I think the Diamond Mountain portion comes from the related Lokoya grapes. But again, Cardinale I think was $300+, and that would have been pointed out accordingly by dN.

The latest in our Big Fall Collection is truly rarefied air.

Myriad?

I can’t find 497, unless I’ve missed it they may have locked it for those of us without status under new management.

Just go to Search and type in 497

Joel,
My friend went to UC Davis with Chris and his wife did a label rebrand design for them years ago.

We have alot of guesses on this, no doubt the winery wanted to hold onto this juice. Glad to get ahold of some.

Cheers, Tim

How do red bell peppers pair with black coffee?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Weirdo.
Red bell peppers are amazing. Only ones I eat (unless I need greens for color). Orange? Disgusting.

I love how everyone gives me shit about this - but how effective it is at helping to determine preferences for most people. I ask the question each and every day in my tasting room and at tastings - and, on average, folks fall into a few different categories. Period.

Are there exceptions to the rule? Of course - as there are with most things . . .

As far as red peppers go, it’s kinda like spicy food - no correlation whatsoever!!!

Cheers

My bad! I was searching using “N.497” like in the old days. Interesting that 498 came up that way but not 497. Good to know it takes a straight search.

I hoped the tongue in cheek emoji would have accurately described the level of tongue in cheek in my post. Absolutely no shit given your way!

Appreciate that. I have taken a LOT of shit on this board for a lot of things I say - and that’s perfectly fine. I always find it better to state my opinions, regardless of some backlash I might take from time to time. Perhaps it’s not the smartest ‘business decision’ I can make, but heck, I am who I am

Cheers

This one feels like one where there is value on the 6 pack compared to the 12. 6 pack cost me $210 after applying the rebate from lot 500. So about $35 a bottle. At this higher price point $4-5 more per bottle doesn’t feel as oppressive. Like many in 390-401 lots, I feel like I can spread out my enjoyment of these 6 bottles out long enough if I don’t try the first one for 3 yrs.

@MatthewT

I mean, fajitas. You don’t like fajitas?!?

Agree - they’ve made the 6pack unattractive for most offerings, but for the $400+ case the per-bottle increment isn’t a big relative increase, but the bet on the wine quality is much bigger given I can’t rely on Cam’s track record.

Does anyone know anything about Checkerboard Vineyards? I’m leaning in that direction as a source guess for lot 497. Martha McClellan and Bob Levy (husband and wife) would fit the bill for “winemaking team” and Bob makes Harlan, which would certainly qualify as winemakers of the highest pedigree. Plus, their website refers to Martha as the winemaker, but also refers to “the winemaking team.”

Of course you think this.

Yah, I guess fine in that. Prefer orange or yellow. Never green, ever. I don’t eat a lot of fajitas though.
