De Negoce offer (Part 2)

I only know of 1 - it had a different cork. I can’t remember what it was. But there might have been white shiners - I only buy red.

197 specifically had “Bottled by DRNK” on the back label. Cheers, Tim

I just searched my email for negoce shiner…this is what showed up:

#158 Chard: If you like a more buttery, oaky style RRV, this is your wine. Purchased as a “shiner”, its got well over a year in bottle and gorgeous with rich, mouthcoating fruit and well-integrated oak. Just about 18 cases left.

#197: Lot 197 is a 2018 Green Valley of the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Purchased as a “shiner” (bottled wine with no label on it), its been in bottle for well over a year now and spreading its wings nicely. A small cuvee of only 200 cases (150 of which are on offer today) culled from the best barrels from their three Green Valley sourcing sites (which are legendary but remain anonymous here), it represents the flagship offering from this small, boutique producer. The winemaker is fifth generation in the wine business and has access to the best vineyards in Green Valley.

#251: OK, now, how about a $75, 94-Point scoring SHINER with 2+ years in the bottle for $25?

#273, 274, 275 - infamous “shiners that are not shiners” lol.

That’s the only ones I find in my email. So 158, 197 and 251. But my email search isn’t great so could be more. But that seems about right.

#309 has a branded cork from a Chilean Co-Op……

Toby, or anyone is #54 ready yet? I have yet to try one….

Purely coincidental, I am drinking a 197 right now. Cork is generic (not DeNegoce labeled), with just “2018” on the top.

I remember this one. One of the few actual “shiners” that Cam put out. Not something he bottled and sat on.

OK Matt, my turn to correct an Original VIP (like myself), 158 is Alexander Valley Cabernet. Possibly 155, 156 Chardonnay?

Cheers, Tim

I tried one about 1.5 yrs ago I think, really liked it and bought some more in a bottle shop sale. Have like 5 left but haven’t tried another since.

Bottled by means…???

Doesn’t mean they made the wine.

In any event, the vineyards are Chenoweth, and possible they made the wine.

Well Bdklein, go with that 1 man. hah hah

DRNK made a Cuvee de Cavers that fits this description that most Berzerkers agree with maybe except 1 or 2?

Cheers, Tim

Yah got the number wrong. That was #152!

A lot of the non-US wines were shiners. Few of the Aussie Shiraz’s, #350 I think was, I sleuthed all the Italian offerings from the DOCG tags, at least one Chilean cab had the co-ops cork, etc.

I think there’s only been 2-3 US (real, not #274 style) shiners.

I just saw a dN ad on Instagram Stories, with Cam’s name and picture. So weird. I had never seen it before.

A few of the italian offerings have been dN labels with source winery corks.

FWIW, I think n.429 was unlikely to be AO, it was more likely to be Elizabeth Spencer or Vineyard 29 when I did some research.

Scott, fwiw, two years ago I thought n.54 was a mess of a wine. By a year ago it got to a better place and I rated it an 89. Now another year has passed and I think it is a bit better since last year. I’d probably rate it a 90 at this point. It was just a really weird wine, in and out of balance, but decent. It feels like now it’s finally coming into its own, though it’s taken a while.

Thanks Brian, I have been waiting on it because of the various comments on this forum. Only have 4 bottles from some past Bottle Shop (BS) Sale.
Time to try one soon….

Not trying to hammer this home, just going over my 429 purchase. Not sure when 2021 Alpha Omega tech specs went up, I do not think they were up when 429 went live. Anyway can confirm 429 is not AO Napa Red now. It is still a good wine so no real loss, stuff was stupid cheap.

14.3% vs 14.6%
30% cab vs mainly cab
50% French / 50% stainless vs 100% French
