De Negoce offer (Part 2)

It’s going to be SO DISAPPOINTING if this cork is generic and we never know what wine this is. Haha.

How many >$100 bottles of wine have generic corks? I figure they almost always have a winery or something on them right?

Look, at the end of the day and regardless of producer, you all got a $100+ Napa mountain Cab heavy red blend for $21 that the winery bottled, not dN. Im pretty sure that fits the description of what you were all were buying from dN 3 to 4 years ago

Oh it’s a very very good deal. W/ 93-96 point scores. It will be great wine.

Most dN’s were not shiners, actually. Less than 3 or 4 lots out of 400 were.

Yeah, I didn’t mean the shiner part. Let me know when it arrives and perhaps I’ll plan a business trip to SD! Haha.

Haha. I can assure you, I will be opening a bottle the minute it comes to look at the cork and will post here.

What has me scratching my head is if the cork will reveal the winery, why the concern about it being labeled as proprietary red?

Yes, you’re right. It probably won’t. And previously, they said IT WOULD, and asked us not to share. So it’s likely the cork is blank :frowning:

Im not sad I missed this….it looks like an amazing deal but I simply can’t sustain buying every amazing deal…I think in the past I would have considered a 6 pack but the cost difference between 6vs 12 has grown so makes more sense to just skip every other interesting offer and get 12.

Having spent four days in San Francisco, and having sampled multiple red wines with nice dinners (mostly Napas) at a much higher price point, I do have to say that I am comfortable with how dN fits with my palate. My daily per diem is fairly generous for dinner so I took full advantage and I can say that the higher price point did nothing for my palate.

Changing subject to an older offer: Lot 460 RRV Sauvignon Blanc was guessed to be Rochioli. For those of you familiar with this winery or SB from this area, what would be your recommended drinking window. My shipment arrived today and I may need to protect it from my SB loving daughter

Thanks

Nice snatch to those who got this one… I missed out. I’m trying to avoid ANY wine buying but this one for sure looks like a good value and a good wine.

Regardless of the true window, tell her it won’t be ready for 2 years!

Agree with your whole post but yah buying 6 of any of these just makes no sense. They are very much dissuading people from doing that the way they priced this one.

Agree rogerd- this wine should be in extreme bottle shock now, and should need 3-4 months before opening IMO. Best to wait until say fall to try one. For me, if it’s Rochioli, I’ve tried their Sau Blancs over the years at tasting room and through local purchases. It’s Meh for me. I went for the 463 RRV SB myself.

Lot 472 Atlas Peak Cabernet:
Possible this is Antinori Napa “Townsend” from Townsend Vineyard? Doubt it is Profico, but if so…SCORE! The Antinori’s started using Townsend and Profico on Red lineups after the 2017 vintage? Hence, likely why OG N.30 2018 Atlas Peak Cabernet came through the pipeline to Cameron back then.

Can’t believe I’ve already bought three cases this month. I too was excited about the cork thing, but I think there’s close to zero chance we get a winery cork on this one. Definitely not doing well with the buy no wine and buy no domestic cabs until the '23s come out. I was at Repris in Sonoma over the weekend and they are beyond excited about the '23s. But as everyone said, this seemed to be pretty low risk. I probably would have rather had 468, if only to compare to 47, but I guess '21 is a better fit than '18 for someone with way too much 2018 cab.

Jonah, this post made me laugh pretty hard. If that’s any consolation.

It’s not this. There is so cab franc in this wine.

so What are the known shiners? 197 (Drnk winery pinot) was excellent. i think the winery was on the back label

197 was Chenoweth .

251 was as well, supposedly the 2017 version of Lot 54 2018 cab (credibly assumed to be Smith Story). 251 has excellent reviews
