Great! Found this forum and thread when I searched on Covap Jamon Iberico.
Our Costco Jamon pata negra arrived today and we look forward to enjoying slices as we learn how to do it. We have plenty of Tempranillo and Rioja in the wine cellar. I think we still have a bottle or two of Ribera del Duero.
Great splurge while being stuck at home.
In 2018 we visited a Jamon Iberico producer in Huelva, Spain. We even got to meet the pigs up close as well as tour a small processing plant and taste various products with local wines. It was a great experience. That part of Spain looks remarkably like sections of the Texas Hill Country.
Mark - thank you for mentioning this in the bday thread. The product is great and the pre-slicing means that I will keep all my fingers. At least for now.
Wife and I love Iberico ham - first tasted the real thing in Spain a few years back. A local Catalan took us to a restaurant outside the tourist area in Barcelona one night (Recasens in Poblenou) and the rest is history. Never managed to talk the wife into buying one of the Costco Ibericos though. It was always, “We can get one when we move to Spain . . . .”
So . . . we are selling our Bay Area home and moving to Spain as soon as we get the visas. That is how wonderful a good Iberico is!
