Montaraz on sale for $795.95. Comes out to $53/lb though that includes the skin and bone.

Is it worth $246 more than the Costco one? Probably in the same way a bottle of cult cab is worth more than a $20 grocery store bottle. I’ve enjoyed both Montaraz and Costco, but my next jamon is Montaraz because that’s a good price for it.
That’s the jamón I serve at home. Definitely worth it; and, yes, that’s an excellent price for it.
Do you have a favorite pairing?
Yes, and it depends on the weather/temperature. When its warm out, my favourites are either a good bubbly (cava or champagne) or a relatively fuller rosé. When it’s chilly/cold out (mostly when I’m out of the country as it’s almost always warm in the Philippines), I prefer a good sherry (fino, manzanilla or, when available, palo cortado).

I’m a fan of the sherry pairing myself.
Damn, the Montaraz went down to $699 for Black Friday. Naturally I had to pick up an extra to store in the cellar.

Excellent!

Thanks for the heads up. I called them, and the thing that concerned me was cutting. Apparently, they will cut it for you for $110, and I am sure that it is well worth the extra.

They’ll cut the entire leg and vacuum seal the slices for $110? That’s not bad at all!
We will be sharing it among 8 people; they will even divide it and vacuum.
That’s a fantastic idea! I’m glad you asked them. I might do that in the future if I get tired of hand slicing it myself.
It is actually in the menu.
Also I suggested that they do BerserkerDay; I think they are talking to Todd.
Meanwhile I just bought mine, and am really looking forward to it

I hope they participate! I could use some Iberico salumi.
I have not opened the ham yet, set for this weekend. But I bought their three pack of Iberico chorizo, and had to try the spicy. It is delicious, mildly spiced as promised. Will be ordering more as Xmas gifts.
If I renew Costco should it be a gold or executive membership?

Shall I PM you my address?
You need to know that my cat, Oliver, loved the Iberico, but would not eat the chorizo.

Smart Cat!

Oliver is more of an epicurean than my cat. In fact, none of my cats expressed any interest in Jamon Iberico.

Lucky owner, or is that owned? Cats have enough issues with upset stomachs!
