Chelsea Wine Storage

A new article in the NYPost… Heading implies an FBI raid, but I did not see it mentioned in the main text. Luckily, I got my wines out (thanks to Michael):

New York wine crisis: FBI raid top shop, $1,000 bottles found stashed in Times Square TGI Fridays`

The one thing you can rely on when written in the Post is a quote from Asher, assuming they are quoting him verbatim.

Based on the construction of the article, the headline appears to reference the FBI raid on Sherry-Lehmann. The article intertwines the Sherry-Lehmann and Chelsea events into one story.

I feel that I should report my recent experience with Chelsea in the interest of fairness…

Late last year, I had my share of the usual frustrations, but since mid-January, when I tried again to get all my 6 cases out, it seems that Chelsea has made definite improvements.

I have all my bottles out, and the wines in fragile styles I’ve opened have tasted fresh. The communications were good, responses were pretty prompt, and I was asked to call someone just before my car arrived at the warehouse in Manhattan where parking was problematic. Basically, everything went smoothly.

Again, this was just my own experience.

That’s a good development. Where was the warehouse? My biggest concern was the treatment of the wine of the year or so after they reportedly moved away from Chelsea Market (without telling customers).

Does anyone have any information on how the wines were treated after that move?

I believe the warehouse address is 777 7th Ave. They gave me a choice of picking up there or at their store.

Seems legit

Were the bottles chilled?

I’m glad to hear they’re getting their act together. It used to be such a great business

The bottles were super cold when I picked them up. But it was late January, so that might be expected.

Now these clowns have renamed the place “Le Chelsea Wine Veult” or just “Le Veult”.

What the hell is a veult? In French, veult is conjugated form of vouloir, or to want. “Dieu le veult” is old French for “God wills it.” Veult is not a noun, at least in French. In Dutch, for example, a veult is a foal.

WTF?

Maybe this is their way of not having to return storage items to clients.

"Sir, I think you are looking for a different business - we are Le Veult, not the Wine Vault’

This occurred to me. Laughable, if it’s the reason!

“Why are you keeping my wine?!”

“God wills it!”

You have to say it in this Seinfeld characters voice:

Yeah that ain’t French. “Veut” is to want something, “Veult” sounds like someone made up a name to sound fancy.
