Chave vs Allemand (vs Reynard vs Jamet?) - Republique, L.A. 9/30/23

Great, will be nice to see you again!

Do we have to be 12 people for private room?
We have 9 now.
3 more to go.

No, the private room wasn’t cancelled yet so I think we still have it

@Juliec are you still joining us?

I have a 1992 Chave. I can join if old vintage is interested.

nope we can be up to 12. I already booked and discussed the menu with them.

Can you help on requesting pescatarian menu? Sorry for the trouble . Thanks.

It’s going to be a family style meal. Im pescatarian myself so you’ll be well covered

Only one thing we can’t eat and that’s the steak. But we will have plenty of fish!

will be looking forward to the notes on this tasting. beyond disappointed that i will miss meeting the la wb group and this legendary tasting. if anyone needs the 2012 chave for the tasting, i can help with sourcing.

Sad to miss the chance to meet you in person - next time!!

FYI. Restaurant asked us to do a tasting menu for ease.

@C_Wong ill let them know of your dietary restriction

Anyone else have anything of note?

Do we need to decant some of these?

I’d argue every wine being brought needs to be decanted beforehand

Yes, Chave, in particular, will throw plenty of sediment, so decant for sediment beforehand and pour back in bottle, please

Two questions:

  1. Should we preopen these bottles to let it air? For how long?
  2. Will the restaurant help decant the sediment? Flying in so won’t have the right tools to do all that :frowning:

todd knows the fury that will rain down from the heavens if even a millimeter of sediment touches my lips

And, unfortunately, the same goes for me…and I’ve got more rage
