@CFu booked us a room at Republique in Los Angeles, limiting to 12 people only - each is to bring a 2012 or earlier bottle of Chave, or Allemand Reynard and we’ll see who wins. Bring more if you can or want, so it’s more of a contest, so ideally bringing 2 each is wonderful, but perhaps not realistic
If many people are LEGITIMATELY interested we can have a Battle of the Berserkers, have simultaneous dates in other major metropolitan areas, so people don’t have to fly in, and when limiting to 12 (to be sure those attending get decent pours) this allows for more participants. Even better would be if they were truly simultaneous - same date - so that’s my goal
Here are the 6 vintages of each producer we will target for side by sides

I’d likely be able to swing a trip out for this if it were on a Friday rather than a Saturday but my September stinks. Oct. 13 or 27 would work if pushing it a month is acceptable. I’d dig out a '95 Chave but it would be just the one bottle. I’m assuming from the OP that we’d be in actual LA for this and not halfway to San Diego.
I’m legitimately interested but my travel schedule is such a mess these days that I probably can’t commit early to coming to LA. But I’m very interested in organizing a simultaneous Gulf Coast N Rhone event.
That’s the plan, as per the OP - if any region can get 12 (or so) they can setup a simultaneous one. I REALLY think fun could be had if we did them simultaneously, more so than if we spread them out
This event really needs to be on neutral ground to be of any value. Come to New Zealand with your bottles. Brodie and I will cook, and even throw in a Rayas ringer ;)!
