CellarTracker question

Okay, before Eric rolls his eyes and slaps me through the screen, I truly did search all over the site and didn’t find the answer. Perhaps I didn’t look in the right location. But my question is, once you’ve added a BIN to CT, can you go back and edit that name and have it update globally?

Example. I added “B15” as a BIN within a certain Location. I wanted to change the name of that and have it update all my bottles already within bin B15. Also, can you delete Locations/Bins?

Thank you in advance of the beatings.

I’ve wondered this same thing, so look forward to the response. I haven’t been able to figure it out on my own.

Click MY CELLAR. Toggle from WINES display mode to INDIVIDUAL BOTTLE. Expand the NARROW RESULTS BY panel and click BIN to filter to a specific bin. Use the checkbox at the top of the list of bottles to bulk select up to 500/page and RELOCATE.

Alternatively, to just edit the bin for one wine, click VIEW/EDIT ALL BOTTLES in the side panel on the right for that wine. Pick a purchase or just specific bottles and edit.

Basically, relocate all the bottles currently in B15 to the “new” bin name. B15 will then disappear as a bin, and the new one will be there.

Since you (Eric) are answering questions on this forum…

Is there an easy way to bulk rename wines that have been misnamed? For example, a case of Monprivato mistakenly named Monprivato Ca d’Morisso?

Thanks, Eric. Much appreciated. Once I relocated to the new bin name, is there a way to delete the old bin name so it no longer shows up in the drop menu when adding wines?

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like old empty locations disappear.

I do that slightly differently. I use the Advanced Search to do an Individual Bottles search for that bin name. Then I check all and Relocate to the new bin name.

BTW the answer to this question is no, at least not directly. You have to move all the bottles to the new bin name the way that Eric or I suggest above.

A bin name or location name exists for you in CT if you have one or more bottles in it. AFAIK the moment you move all the bottles out of B15, the name “B15” will no longer exist in your CT.

FWIW for me, one of the few unintuitive aspects of CT is that when you see the name of the bin as a link listed with a bottle in that bin and you click on it, it takes you to “drink that bottle”. I feel it would be more natural if it took you to all bottles in that bin.

Better to pray that it just turns into Ca d’Morisso.

Believe me, I prayed. Like most prayers, it went unanswered.

Go to the page for the wine. Click the WINE DETAILS tab. Click on EDIT WINE DETAILS. Use the editing tools to propose a correction.

In the side panel on the right, the links are intended to take you to actions associated with that wine.

+1.

Eric, I’ve often wanted to change what wine a bottle is while keeping other details the same. I think that’s what was requested above.

Michael

And I already answered that question above. It is easy. That is how it works.

and another…can you accept partial deliveries?

I’m confused too. Suppose I have bottles of 1995 regular Monprivato and 1995 Ca d’Morissio already in my cellar. Then I get a great deal on a case of regular Monprivato, but when I go to enter it into CT, I mistakenly label it Ca d’Morissio. I think what you propose would change all of my Ca bottles into regular Monprivato bottles, no?

Totally unrelated, and this may have already been answered before…but on the homepage of cellartracker, is that a pic of your cellar, Eric?

On the same wine? Not unless there were separate purchases. Or you can go back and edit the purchase before accepting delivery.

Ah. I wasn’t clear. TBC input the wrong wine. Rather than inputting Monprivato, they input a different wine, Monprivato Ca d’Morisso. I just want to change name of the wine in my cellar only without changing any other of my data (location, purchase date, etc) or proposing a global name change that would affect other users. Not an incorrectly named wine, but a wine that was input incorrectly in my cellar.

Easily in the new site. You are SOL in the old site.

In the side panel for the wine, click PENDING DELIVERY. Click the EDIT button. Toggle to the SINGLE BOTTLE EDIT tab. Change the status of as many bottle as were delivered to IN MY CELLAR from PENDING.
