Nice story.
He is a nice guy and has some pretty great wines for sale.
Nice to see Ben getting some publicity. It’s a pleasure to buy and sell with him.
Big fan. I have gotten some great deals, in terrific shape
I have passed on a couple of potential purchases from the Cellar Raiders site in the past. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information available on any given bottle.
Maybe I should be a little more open-minded…
Drew I have had similar concerns about regarding Cellaraiders as well as other retailers I’d potentially be willing to do business with.
Can anyone comment on Cellaraiders’ responsiveness if one has questions on specific bottles?
Shoot an email out and they’ll tell you what you want to know.
If you have questions, call Ben. He is very open and cooperative and every bottle I have bought from him has been in better shape than he described. Seriously, he has been fantastic to work with. Can’t recommend him more highly. (His website on the other hand . . . . )
There’s actually two Bens at Cellaraiders, and each is very helpful.
Neal is right about the website… it’s a little archaic. It functions as necessary though. Just wish it didn’t look like it was made by the head of the local Renaissance Fair.
(sorry Ben, couldn’t resist!)
Thanks gents!
Great service, to handle a recent order discrepancy.
Great place. Always excellent.
Does anyone have any experience with selling to them?
I have bought from Cellaraiders many times over the years (and I am based in the Philippines). My experience has been that the bottles are in good shape, and Ben is very easy to deal with, responsive and very up front re: bottle conditions.
Never sold to him though (I never sell my wines).
Best,
N
Only purchased; never sold
Wine leaves my house in a manner not salable.
Do they have periodic sales? Every time I’ve looked I thought the prices were on the high side.
I have bought from and sold to Ben and can say that he is honest, easy to deal with, fair, and overall just a good guy.
No sales that I know of. He sends out an email when he acquires a new cellar, and I suppose the best deals get snatched up pretty quickly. But no one has the best prices on everything. My experience is that he is either the cheapest or within shouting range of the market leaders on most things of interest to me. Definitely a European emphasis (although I have bought some decent CA bargains as well).
