Anyone know more detail about this new wine from Caterwaul? It’s $175/btl, which is by far their most expensive wine. I cannot find any information about it online.

It’s their cemetery wine. They changed the name since this is the last vintage they have the fruit for.

If you look at the most recent Caterwaul post on Instagram you can see the label for this one. The cat is upside down. “Last Rites.” Pretty cute!

The 19 cemetery is fantastic. Got 12 I liked them so much! But the price increase hurts. May start with 3 and go from there.

After the price increase on the Rivers-Marie cabs, I expected to see an increase on these. I’m glad the Napa is still going to be a great value, although a 30%+ increase on the Regusci over the last release is a bit rough.

Agreed, I was looking forward to getting a few of the Regusci - it’s my Dad’s favorite winery - but will have to keep it reasonable.
The Napa cab is a great value and happy to see that is still the case.

I agree. But thought it would go from 135 to 150. Not 175. Definitely a steeper jump. Same for Regusci

Agreed on the price hike. But note they hiked the 2019 Cemetery to $175 as well after release. I am passing on these, I grew tired of the extraction on the NV and don’t need any more Napa cabs at the $175 price point.
It went up to 175 due to the 100 point rating. Agree on over extraction, but there are definitely a good amount of producers who don’t.

Just noticed that the folks at Caterwaul bumped the order minimum up to 6 bottles. I don’t recall the minimum being that high in past years if there was ever a order minimum at all. Seems like a bold move
I like the Caterwaul wines quite a bit and was super impressed by both the Regusci and the Cemetery vineyard cabs in 2019. As such, I made a purchase from the offer today, but the combination of the steep price increases on the single vineyard wines and a new 6-bottle minimum on purchases gave me pause. Unlike the Rivers-Marie cabs, shipping is also added at checkout (although it appears it may be partially subsidized).
May have to drop another cab list if I decide to stay on this one. Have to make some cuts at this point with most of my favorite cab producers taking significant price increases this year. Makes me appreciate even more the wineries that didn’t do this, like William & Mary.

I completely agree. I loaded up on Rivers Marie because they were quite " fair" in their pricing model and order minimum and shipping .I have been sitting here debating if I really need to take the plunge on this one. I understand their wines are good and have enjoyed them for years. However the price steep increase and minimum in my honest opinion seems like a bit of a " Cash Grab" just my 2 cents
