This feels like Gary Farrell to me? A blend of their Bacigalupi, Durell and Martaella vineyards? They also make a Ritchie vineyard, so perhaps that was a little hint from Cam?

I just logged on to see if I could see all of my outstanding orders, nope. I thought maybe I could split a case between five and 11 no way to do that either. And there’s only an email address to contact ( they have been responsive) but no telephone number, surprisingly this platform is not that great! Frustrating
Probably David Ramey? In past days it’s been known Cameron purchased from him. Dave had a certain name for Cameron - a vulture- he meant it in a kind way.

The ‘basic’ Russian River Chardonnay from Gary Farrell received 92 points for ‘21 vintage and 92 points for ‘22 vintage. I think it’s highly likely they just awarded the ‘23 vintage 93 and it’s just not published yet…everything else seems to line up IMHO.

I like Tim B’s guess of Dave Ramey too. Both Gary Farrell & Dave Ramey have multiple single-vineyard RRV chards in that price-point and both have a ‘basic’ RRV in the $ neighborhood of the write-up…but Wine Enthusiast gave the '21 Ramey RRV a 93 at a listed price of $50. If Tim is also correct re: prior connections w/ Cam, then that likely seals the deal…

Ramey was thought to be the source for dN 176 pinot noir and 182 chardonnay. The description for 182 sounds much like this CamX wine in terms of composition.

We only received 8 barrels and, quite frankly, I paid more for it than I have many Napa Cabernet’s - that’s how much I like it. This cuvee is mostly estate fruit with two barrels from their single vineyard program. Because of the small quantity produced, as well as the high price, Lot 182 Russian River Valley Chardonnay will be sold in six-packs. Weighing in at 13.8%
So another 8 barrels made specifically for the Vulture?

Where do you see a 93? Seems like he would tout a 95 if this was in fact Ramey so doesn’t seem to fit.

I think we’re back to Cam’s wordsmithing. Here’s the language: “I should note, the producer sells their entry level Russian River Chardonnay for $50-$60/bottle and recently awarded a 93-point score in the Wine Enthusiast.”. Does it explicitly state that the RRV is the bottling that was recently awarded a 93 point score? While I agree it’s strongly alluded to, the ‘most recently awarded’ score by Wine Enthusiast on one of Ramey’s Chardonnay’s was, indeed, a 93 point score (even though it was their Sonoma Coast AVA bottling vs. RRV AVA).
Any other potential guesses besides Ramey & Gary Farrell?

Did we ever find out who’s running the camxcellar site? I don’t think they’ve guessed a single source wine correctly IMHO…but appears these are all ChatGPT guesses? Besides the accuracy of the guess, I really do like the site…great consolidated source for original email write-up, tasting notes, etc.
