I’d only recommend if you love the ripest, super oaked Parker point style wines - like dN n.57, or love lush Paso Robles wine.

More disappointed in their Grenache than BP itself, and holding my bottles to open at the 10 year mark and hope the lushness has mellowed.

With that said, I didn’t look at their BD this year, but they halved the price from what I paid at a previous BD, so it is providing dN like QPR if you like the style.

I don’t normally like the real big wines, but wad surprised how balanced it was. The alcohol usually stocks out to me at that ABV but it didnt.

Mark, I have never had anyone tell me my Grenache is overly “lush”. You should have checked out this year’s offering on BD for Grenache. It was all spice and elegance. I will admit that my Grenache always seems to waver as I explore new vineyards. Except for 2018 and 2019, I would say they have always been more elegant. Black Powder, on the other hand, is made for distribution and the masses. It’s lush and rich, but I would hope, still balanced. But this is a Cam thread and I appreciate the mention @Max_S1

Hi Bobby,

Thanks for the response.

When I mentioned lush I was referring to Black Powder, but found the Grenache to be even lusher relative to my baseline for the two varietals.

I just checked my 3 year old notes and I tasted the ‘19 Oakville BP in the summer of 2022, and it was just lusher than I like.

I didn’t note which of the couple grenaches I was offered at Wine Thief, but would guess it was also a ‘19. Believe it was the lushest Grenache I’ve tried and I decided to move on.

Nice to hear 19 Grenache may have been an exception, and I would gladly taste your wines again.

I wonder if doing a BD preview tasting in Napa a day or week before BD would be interesting to you. Charge a fee and waive if people purchase more than X on BD. Just an idea. Cheers.

Mark, hit me up for a tasting next time you are in town. A BD tasting in January before the offer would absolutely be welcomed! I want my customers as informed as possible on the wines available.

Just for the record, ~ supposedly, the CAM X Lot 02 Oakville District 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon will be bottled mid-June, 2025.

“End of May”

Nothing, so far as I can tell, in this thread about Lot 12. “Sold out.” What’s the deal?

No clue, WTF

Just Cam trying to stay ahead of the FOMO curve…

Cam just teasing to see how much hype there is before setting the price
but I’d expect to see 12 at Cam’s retail partner any day now

Yeah, I suspect this hasn’t actually been offered yet. It’s “sold out” but so is Lot 2 on that website - on WineVIP, it’s available.

Could it be?

Maybe? That has a different oak treatment and varietal blend than Cam’s. Ovid’s specs look closer, but if I’m reading their website right, they change up every year. Pritchard Hill is a pretty small area, right? Can’t be too many contenders.

If it is, pinch me. Chapp grows all of the varietals listed in Cam’s blend.
