Cam X Wine Company

Is it sold out or just inventory management like the last few times?

In for a case of 46. I’m assuming if I’m going to buy one CamX merlot, this is a good one to buy.

Well I already mentioned I’m a huge fan of Merlot. As long as it’s made in a really structured way, which I imagine this would be being 2/3rds new oak and mountain fruit. It’s gonna be killer. All the guesses that came up in my mind were from places that make really excellent wine.

Alright. Thinking of buying my first CamX.

With what’s still available what do you recommend?

Something with great value and a good hunch on source.

Or do I wait till lot 50!

2,3,5,7,20, 22 are all drinking well regardless of source. Meaning you cant really go wrong. I havent tasted 10,12,17, or 16 yet personally. 24,25,27 were awesome but sold out.

Both, Kevin.
Lots of great choices still available.
I have been happy with all 8 wines I have tasted. Several need age to be in their prime, though long decanting is an imperfect shortcut. All hint at great potential ahead.
You can search for reviews on winebeserkers and cellartracker.
Hard to choose between the lots as the varieties and characters vary so much.

Hoping this 46 merlot gets finished with a bunch of cab and a kiss of PV. Will be awesome.

Yeah would want to know what you like to drink before I could make a suggestion. Source only matters sometimes to help identify known styles. On that alone, maybe lot 5 if you like huge wines. If you like more character and ready to go now…maybe lot 2. If you like cab franc/merlot blends, lot 21 is quite nice. If you like fruit forward pinot, lot 20.

Welcome, plenty of reading material here! To start you off, here was Charlie C’s Chat GPT summary of various user feedback from the other thread which provided a pretty good overview.

Drift, but I was too young at that time to really have much of an interest in wine. I don’t believe it colored my own viewpoint of merlot and if anything made it counter culture cool. Im pleased overall it probably benefited central coast wines but also if I recall, there was a Kistler mashed in there.

Anyways, I suggest folks move on lot 46. Frankly, I do love merlot, but I found the FM lot 47 offer too pricey after so many other deals beforehand. For non-FMs with fomo, I think this is honestly the better deal. Especially for those types that seem to care who the underlying winemaker is.

I’d make a case for (no pun intended):

  1. Lot 5
  2. Mix 6: Lot 5 / Lot 32
  3. Mix 3: Lot 5 / Lot 32 / Lot 21 / Lot 20

Also, get someone’s referral code and save an additional $25.

Since BOGOs over, you could wait for 50 to drop (and sub in above), but it would delay your shipping a few months probably.

Very pertinent information. It’s always a good idea to find out what style somebody likes in order to recommend other possible choices. The challenge is truly getting a feel for that style. If somebody says they like big bold lines, that can mean many many many different things. You probably need to dial in deeper in all honesty.

I think one thing happens with Wine often - someone who others respects or follows, says that something is good, and others simply believe it is because that person said it. When it comes to wine, good means nothing on its own. It’s totally subjective.

Cheers

100% agree. Would be best to know what their favorite wines have been. Should have been more direct.

But even knowing what somebody’s favorite wines are is not necessarily enough, in my honest opinion. There is still way too much subjectivity when it comes to that.

Why is that one their favorite? Perhaps it was shared on a special occasion. Perhaps it was highly rated.

Many many many more questions need to be asked as far as I’m concerned.

Cheers
