Cam, can you update us on the status of lot 6 Rose? Labeling and shipping?
I think that I fully expected that would be the first Cam X wine that we would all taste!

Lot 1 AV Cab, Lot 4 Son Cst Card, Lot 6 Rose, Lot 9 Carneros Chard, Lot 11 RRV Chard are the best showing wines right now quite frankly but they are still in shiners (Hi Matt ). I am very frustrated with our printer who told us third week of July for labels but now tells me the labels should arrive next week. The good news is they will go straight onto the bottles and be ready to ship shortly thereafter.
I do apologize for the delay on these…it is doubly frustrating knowing that these are the wines you folks want to be drinking right now.
I would rephrase it to be the ‘Community List’ (sorry David)…but, IMHO, it’s significantly more accurate than the CamXCellar site. Personally, I think Lot 24 is more likely to be Diamond Mountain Vineyard vs. Diamond Creek, but the write-up could fit either. Otherwise, my mental source list aligns perfectly with David’s community list. Keep up the good work everyone!
John - what happened to this wine review? I believe you were the first to sample Lot 10, but then your notes got deleted. If you did truly receive/try Lot 10, this community would certainly love to hear your thoughts…thx in advance.
I’m just the holder of information. And in truth, I wouldn’t have been able to make most of the final guesses without all the group input. Dutko is persuasive.
WineVIP is certainly not honoring the ‘ship after’ date they allowed us to enter. 2 cases of Lot 7 were to be shipped after 9/30, they are arriving in NY tomorrow instead. Thankfully our heat has abated.
Silver lining = sounds like the community will get a Lot 7 review soon too
I think you were thrown off by the same thing I was. Seemed like Summer hold $5 to me the way it was worded would hold any wine that arrives or is in stock until after October, but in fact, it was a $5 for if and when it arrives, you have to pay us to hold it for any requested ship date, even if it’s before October. Sort of silly to charge a hold fee for pre-arrival wine, that was my main gripe.
For comparison, I have bought wine futures at Millesime that arrived this summer. They emailed me and I asked to hold. Simple as that. If they had said, hey it’s $5 now that it has arrived, I would have paid it. They didn’t, they just held it.
I think I have summer hold on some other orders at WineVIP, not sure why I did this one differently.
We need a Tempranillo blend from Paso Robles.
David,
Go for that stuff, I’ll take the bountiful offers of $200 Napa Cabs at 80-90% discount first.
Cheers, Tim
Triple Abundant yummy Yes Tim,
At yesterdays price X#17, was basically the sales tax that one would pay at the tasting room price! Big Smile.
Soooooo, I got 3xX#17.
I feel the same euphoria re: #24,#12, etc….I did the arithmetic.
Hard to find any values today! Maybe only big screen TV’s(only need 1) & X(only need 1/night)!
Yay!
Lots #3, #7, and #12 showed up today. Corks looked good.
Gotta figure out the shipping though. The local UPS store made me pay $10 per box to pick them up. Waiting to hear back from WineVIP…never had this issue before with having boxes sent to a local UPS/FedEx pickup point rather than sending to the house.
Do we need a #7 opened up?
Do we need an early #7 review? Why yes, we most certainly do! Pop ‘em if ya got ‘em!
Micah,
Check with UPS, they are getting like the airlines, making you pay for all the frills. You might have to get a UPS premium upgrade? Pay to play.
Cheers, Tim
I believe the UPS fee for “hold/pick-up” is $10/parcel. They also offer a yearly rate for any and all parcels held called My Choice for $20. I’d at least negotiate that with UPS.
good Zins & Port / dessert wine.
UPS stores are run by franchisees, not UPS corporate. They’re allowed to charge whatever they want for pickup UNLESS the package is shipped via “UPS Access Point” which means then that UPS corporate pays the store a small fee and they’re not allowed to charge the customer anything. The problem is, not all shippers are set up to work with the access point system (I believe it is free for them, just an IT hassle). The original De Negoce was set up for it, as is Wine.com and B-21. Casemates and WTSO are not. FedEx doesn’t have this problem, so I always ship with them when possible and I get annoyed (and often don’t buy…) from sellers that make me have to ship to my house where if I’m not home in the middle of the day in the middle of the week three days in a row UPS returns the package or pay the extra $10 to pick up at UPS.
Shipping shipping shipping, how boring yet typically American
All of my 8 WineVip cases are on summer hold for $5 per order.
All good until October when a boatload of wine arrives in October from CamX and WineVip crazy
I just posted a lot 7 review from last night…we’ll see if day #2 gets better…
