Cam X Wine Company

I tried to post the exact same thing this AM, (but it didn’t post)

I’m not sure that’s the great first review we were hoping for. I do find the light electric red color intriguing though.

#19 came back online.
Finally got some.
I missed the initial release.

Just when I thought I was done…

Looking forward to your ‘day 2 review’ of Lot 12. To me, young pritchard hill wines always need a ton of air. Hopefully the tannins have been tamed and we’ll get something better than ‘soapy’, ‘not horrible’ and ‘not running back to buy a few more’. Oof - only one direction to go from those initial comments?

A very quick question - has @enshua ever posted tasting notes here before? Does your palate align with theirs? Very important in this case, no?

Cheers all!

What would cause soapy on the palate?

A glass that was not properly cleaned? High pH?

Also noticed the color and was a little worried. Could just be the lighting and picture though.

True, this was my first tasting note ever!
I started buying DN in May 2023 and have been on the Grand Cru (highest) rewards level ever since.
I’m embarrassed to say how many DN I’ve bought, but it’s ALOT. Way too much!
I’ve already gone through the FM credits probably double.
Just to calibrate with everyone else and speak the same language…
my favorite DN so far are 385 and 250 (which I tasted blind and was better than both BV Georges de Latour '18 , '19, and Sena). I never bought the 100, 150, earlier ones since I found DN in 2023.
I did open 505 and 525 on arrival and thought they were good only after 24 hours or more.
I prefer blue fruit. One wine I find very interesting is 2020 Cobden Wini, Old Federal To Kalon that I found on wineslash, if anyone’s tried that.
This #12 is more red fruit to me.
the soapy thing was not too strong, so I’m ok with it. After alittle air, I didn’t seem to notice it. The pH is more acidic (lower) than high.
It’s not a forest floor pencil lead thing.
There are definitely some wine I bought from last bottle etc that I didn’t like and never was able to like it even after years of aging. But I found myself liking #12 even on the first day.
I just think it’s very young. I sometimes keep young wine in the sealed smaller containers (shown in my picture) for weeks after opening and find they are just as good if not better. I can try that with this #12.
Everything Cam said about #12 is so far correct except that I found the color lighter than squid ink, even with Magenta. Other than that I’m hoping it opens up tonight.

camxcellar continues to double-down as Realm being the ‘11 of 12’ source guess, once again naming Lot 17 as being ‘most likely Realm’. Honestly, I keep checking that site just to see if one of my/our guesses finally aligns with theirs. Nope.

C’mon Cab Franc…

I mean, they have the syrah listed as Realm…I think that nullifies all of their guesses.

The problem is that AI would take each guess independently, and not string together a common theme amongst a lot of the offerings, as we have.

I can’t wait to try these wines, but I’m waiting at least 6-months, unlike you jokers!!! PREMATURE EVALUATION!

Rose will up first for me (once it ships)!

Lot 17 has officially become my in-law wine, shipping there so I have something to drink over the years since they don’t keep anything around.

@David.Berman, my personal opinion is that, in light of all of the other offers, you can dump the other two guesses for lot 16 and keep the Black Bart!

So who is the consulting winemaker then? I thought someone out there was telling me that Fayard isn’t involved with them anymore. I really only had it in there for the matching Stagecoach. I agree, all things being equal, it makes sense that it would be Krupp.

I don’t really think it matters. If I have learned one thing from Cam’s write-ups, it’s that if he shows consistency in his verbiage (vineyard that cannot be named), that means it is usually from the same source!

Cam somebody DM me what they think the source of Lot 19 is? Think I have an idea but want the consensus pick. Thanks,

oh brother

Thanks for posting this. I was able to get some lot 19 as well.

Is there anyone in the Houston area that wants to split any of these wines. If so, DM me and we can see if we can make it work.
