Burgundy - Lecheneaut & Roty

I am quite new to Burgundy and while I am too late to for the big names/vineyards I have dipped my toes a bit here and there.

Quite recently I had the following two wines and given that it’s more “humbler” wines from these winemakers I was very positively surprised with quality of the wines (PnP, drank over 3 nights). Seriously long finish (not seconds, minutes). Great length and surviving for several days means they passed my main quality test for fairly young wines [cheers.gif]

Roty - 2017 Bourgogne (red)
Lécheneaut - 2017 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits

I would be very curious to hear thoughts from those with experience of either of the producers. Finishes like this is more then just simple plain wines.
Would have loved to taste through both producers’ lineups, and will hopefully do one day… If you have, what is your experience with the wines?

From what I’ve had of both, I’ve liked though I’m limited to Lecheneaut Cailles. Roty, I’ve had quite a bit. I think the Marsannay is a step above the Bourgogne if you can find it for not much more money. I especially like the Ouzeloy.

Audoin makes really lovely Marsannay if you have not tried. I used to be able to buy them for around $30.

I’m also a fan of Roty (haven’t had any Lecheneaut) though with a fairly small sample size. Smattering of 1ers and GCs over the last 20 years.

I declared a 2012 Lecheneaut marsannay the most interesting Pinot I had in early 2021. Really something else.

Thanks Markus,

Have a few different Marsannay bottlings that I look forward trying.

I can see why, ordered a few different of their wines (villages and 1cru).

Cheers
