It’s usually one of the latest to drop. Generally when Canon and Montrose come out.
Is this usually towards the end of June? I’ve never considered buying en premiuer before this year.
If anyone plans to buy in quantity, can you please message me. A journalist friend is writing an article on the campaign, and would like to talk to buyers.
Does 6-packs of a handful of producers count as “quantity”? As many have already said, some seem very worth it this year some absolutely do not. Excited for this week though, fingers crossed some great producers are feeling influenced by cos and Larcis pricing
Meanwhile I see Antonio’s TNs suffer from their usual microbial infections. (This wine has textural intensity and textural presence but needs time to open texturally, but don’t worry, the time will come with more time.)
The 2025 Durfort-Vivens offers a striking mix of textural intensity and finesse. Crushed flowers, mint, lavender, sage, tobacco and incense add tons of inner sweetness and perfume. Dark red/purplish fruit emerges with time. This really opens beautifully with a bit of time in the glass, showing commendable textural presence and tons of class to match. The blend is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot. All it needs is time to open texturally. That should come with bottle age.
There’s a lot of room for textual analysis there.
Giscours - 56€
Grand Puy Lacoste - 53€
I’d say both are pretty good prices. GPL is a huge drop on 2022, for example and it’s less than current prices for equivalent vintages. They’re still offering their “Variation” case - 4 btls, 2 Magnums and an imperial, I think.
The GPL variation case is pretty cool option, included a tasting invite letter i side? If I were a lot younger, I might go for it.
I purchased this in 2022 for my son’s birthyear and it’s pretty neat. Paid $843.00, which was actually was cheaper per mL than two 6x750 from the same retailer. I don’t think it was offered in 12x750.
2022 didn’t have an invite letter. Where did you see that for the 2025?
Never mind, found it: Grand Puy Lacoste 2025 En Primeur
Over here it works out a little more per bottle, but it’s still an excellent idea for a birthyear, or for a godchild - I wish my godfather had got me one of those! My only quibble would be that they could have put a couple of halves instead of one bottle.
Does GPL have a commemorative bottle for 2025 also?
A screen-printed bottle to celebrate the opening of the new winery.
It’s a fantastic idea…but would be awesome if some of the other chateau did that too…not sure I have interest in GPL though I do have a boy born in 2025 I’m picking some various things up for.
Some merchants will take mixed-format orders, fwiw (like, you are committed to 6x750ml equivalent volume but they’ll give it to you in any combo of formats). You probably don’t get a nifty OWC though!
Yeah, the nifty OWC is where it’s at. Plus it’s easy to keep intact in the cellar.
It’s a honker though!
LMHB released here in Switzerland at CHF159 a bottle which I believe is cheaper than all available vintages including 2021.
@Jeff_Leve do you have an idea of release schedule for next week?
I think I’m only waiting on Montrose, Les Carmes Haut Brion and maybe Leoville-Las-Cases vs Ducru Beaucaillou at this point. I wish there was a great Pomerol in the more $100 range. I guess that’s Feytit-Clinet?
There were a few strong releases this week. Did you see Brane Cantenac, Giscours, Cantenac Brown, Mouton, or Pichon Lalande? Carmes Haut Brion is out tomorrow, Rauzan Segla releases on Friday. Next week, you will see Beau-Séjour Becot, Pichon Baron, Margaux, and others. I will try to get you the full list tomorrow.
