Was surprised not to see any chatter earlier today. B-C seemed particularly well priced.
I thought PLL was ok at $140-150, but I havenât found in 375ml from my usual sources. Any recs?
Plus BSB and Canon.
Most looking forward to BSB, Montrose, Canon, Carmes
IIRC youâre in SA - Iâm at least considering buying through AOC here in Htx (despite not being a member - prices are ~fine for nonmembers, not world-beating but generally in the range.) They seem reasonably flexible on formats, including being willing to do mixed-format orders if you commit to 6x750ml vol equiv. (Not sure that theyâd do like âI want 3x375 of somethingâ though.)
Does anyone know anyone who does Jean Faure in the US? Does that chateau even do EP? @Jeff_Leve ?
I realized had to get my great nephew a 2025, his birthyear. So I got a mixed case of Grand Puy. I love the format; in fact thats the only reason I ended up buying it.
Thanks Jeff!
I bought some Brane just a little while ago and have bought a fair amount over the last week or so, although less than I had anticipated leading up to the campaign. There is still time though. Iâll def be in on Les Carmes tomorrow.
Is this what you are waiting on you mean?
Yah, my list was pretty much yours.
Maybe Clinet in Pomerol?
Carmes at 115 is pretty good
Wines out today, Les Carmes Haut Brion, Beychevelle, dâIssan, Feytit Clinet, and Phelan Segur top the list
They do sell EP. I just sent them a note asking where to find their wines in the USA for you.
Jeff, how would you compare the LCHBâs EP showing to 2022, same level?
NIck Martin on The Jancis forum and the WineBourse website provide good analysis of different en primeur releases relative to past vintages.
The most recent note from WineBourse on LCHB is interesting:
June 5
Canon
Rauzan Segla
Clinet
Leoville Poyferre
Gloria
June 8
Ducru Beaucaillou
Beau-Sejour Becot
Troplong Mondot
Clos Fourtet
June 9
Haut Brion Red & White
Eglise Clinet
Pichon Baron
Smith Haut Lafitte
June 10
Margaux
Calon Segur
June 11
Ausone
Le Pin?
I think thatâs almost everythingâŚ
25 LCHB could be at the same level of quality as the 22, though different stylistically. 22 is more texturally interesting, while the 25 is more vibrant and displays more of a salty, mineral essence. 2025 has more Cabernets in the end. While I expect the 2025 to fill and round out more after barrel aging, we need to wait and see.
Price wise, 2025 should be a buy IMO.
Any word on?
Montrose
Las Cases
Poyferre
