Not a wine coupon but I had to laugh at this Capital One Shopping e-mail. It arrived this morning at 7:42 am offering cash back on tax prep. Note the expiration. I’ve never seen a five-hour coupon before, especially one that requires you to do your taxes in that time, to use it.

Not big but retailmenot bumped to 6% cash back on WDC

Wonder if we’ll ever get the 20% type cashback offers again (and/or the big Raise card discounts). Let my Stewardship expire in early December and we haven’t had anything close to tempting me back in

Raise at 5% really lessens the appeal of those 50/300 codes, especially with RMN at 3 or 6.

There are 20% coupons active now. 30/150 and 50/250. As for the better ones from the early days, I doubt we’ll see any 100/300 again, but may see 20/50 from time to time.

Still, I wait for much better Raise amounts. Though I had an issue with Raise once a few years back, the nice thing is knowing the discount up front, instead of waiting to see whether the cashback comes through or is declined for some reason.

yeah exactly, the coupons are solild at the moment, but it’s only 1 leg of the 3-legged WDC stool! My rough rule has been 40% combined across the 3 to get me to buy from them

Oops. Sorry, read too quick. Raise was 20% not too long ago so that is solid and, again, (hopefully) more reliable. That and a 20% discount and even a low cashback is a good combo.

As to your 40% goal, I can find a lot of things worthwhile to buy at a 30% all-in discount, and frankly some at 25%. I tend to order when discounts result in an all-in price of 2/3 or less. But tax is wrapped in too, so my number is probably similar to yours.

Exactly. WDC prices are inflated by at least 20-25% to start with, so I need to get to a similar point to hit the buy button.

Definitely, I mostly have bought Bordeaux from them and have found their pricing not too far from online lows on a good number of bottles over the last couple years. Not saying 40% is necessary to get a good deal, but given I’m always fighting against the too much wine tide it’s the level I set for “screaming good deal” to get me to buy more at this point.
