Best deal/coupon for on-line wine shopping

So it’s still showing up with the .97 for me, but the discount worked anyway (not sure why, but I won’t complain)

What 50 off 300 did you use that it worked? I’ve legitimately never been able to get a coupon to work on anything ending in 97.

Interesting—in NY warehouse the Krug 170 ends in .97 and is not discountable, but the 170 in a gift box ends in .97 and IS discountable. I haven’t seen that before.

Yup, I did the one with the box (that’s the only one I see for the CA warehouse)

I think I used ENJOY50

FWIW, I just opened a Barolo I ordered three years ago through WdC, and it’s corked. I let them know on the chat, and after sending order number and photo of the front and back of the bottle, got a credit of the original purchase price.

Wow. That would be huge.

Just had a corked 2003 Leo. Poyferre I bought EP and am still sad about it, a week later.

They are really cool about this. I returned almost 10 flawed bottles already over a few years, some over one year after purchase. However, this indicates their poor sourcing or storage (many flaws def caused by storage).

How does rakuten/etc work with futures/pre-arrivals? Do you get the money now, or in the future when the item actually ships?

Rakuten and TopCashback only pay when the order ships. If you search up this thread others have had success with futures orders. My first orders are coming in a few weeks so I’m not sure yet what to expect. I think you’re hoping that all the order confirmation info still connects with Rakuten in 1-2 years, which doesn’t seem guaranteed.

I’ve been unsuccessful in finding something to pair with the $240 Krug to want to pull the trigger, even with $50 off $300 and the 10%. I’ve been getting the half bottles at $109 ($98 + tax) and the free shipping makes this a pretty fair deal.

There are different time limits depending on the entity, but you should be able to file a missing cashback claim after 45 days. It’s worked fine for me with Rakuten and RetailMeNot, but you have to stay on top of it. Both have honored all futures purchases, and I’ve yet to receive any of them yet. My biggest problem is remembering which site I used for each purchase, especially more than three months later. I need to make a spreadsheet.

I’m still waiting on a big one from TopCashBack, who said it can take up to three months to hear back from the retailer. If I recall correctly, TCB allows you to submit the request early (before 30 days) and will automatically delay submission until 30 days, but still claim it will take quite a while to process. RMN and Rakuten have been pretty straightforward and quick in comparison.

I have not noticed issues with poorly stored bottles, but if one is buying back vintage ‘brokered’ items from them (notice the non standard prices), or shipping during heat waves there can be problems, but some of that can be prevented by purchasers. TCA is something that normal buyers cannot hedge against, so if they are providing credit for tainted bottles, that is definitely huge especially for an internet operation.

I only buy current release items from wine.com to avoid that

Found a “perfect” $300 with the Krug and a ‘19 Guidalberto.

I did a very suboptimal 2x Bollinger LGA (ended up at $360), but with 50/300 and 10% ended up under WS lows. Looking back on it, I should have added the ‘18 Haut Bailly ($140), would have ended up at $310 or so.

Still, WS low with shipping for something you’d like to buy anyway is not bad. Back in the heyday I’d try to hit the coupon perfectly and ended up with wine I really didn’t want in the first place. Now I’m happy with a “fair or better” deal as long as it’s a bottle I’d really like to have. And - nice on the LGA! What vintage?

It was the ‘14.

I’ve had the same issue- ending up with marginal bottles to get the most ‘efficient’ discount. Doubly bad for me since I’m already running out of bottle space.

Anyone ever have Rakuten report an incorrect order total and cash back amount? Looks like they maybe subtracted she shipping from the total, which doesn’t really make any sense. I feel like this has been reported before, and curious if anyone challenged it, and, if so, to what result.

Annoying that Rakuten has had 10% cashback for 3 days so far and no coupons available for use… :unamused:

They did the same to me. I reported it and they asked me to forward them my invoice. They have never done that before.
