I’d seen these types of complaints last year and shrugged them off since it felt more targeted, and there were still many W-S low prices for well regarded wines. Now I’m finding things as you described. Been sitting on a 100/300 for a bit, and I’ve yet to use it since it seems to bring things closer to W-S low rather than well below as before. Then, I feel like I’m buying just to use a code rather than because I genuinely want/need something and abandon my cart. Also, the weather and having to wait until fall for delivery already makes these less attractive.
Just “star” the wines you are interested in so that you can keep track of them in your account. Sometime mid- to late-June I expect we will start seeing some nice deals again.
For european berserkers … theres an italian webshop vino.com shipping across most of europe where one can combine:
new customer code GIFT3U8DE for 30€ off @ 90€ (valid till end of May, usually they issue new codes then)
Friday usually is free shipping from 29€ (10€ else) - not always the case but has been like 9 times out of last 10
pretty regular steep discounts in the 25-40+% range - just have a look in the area you usually hit on and see
So ordering a product on a friday which happens to be on sale then plus the discount code can give some good QPRs
Example, just ordered some La Gerla RdM 2020 which usually is at 22€, discounted to 14,90€, with 5 bottles of that and 1 bottle of La Gerla Birba at 16,xx€ (usually 24.xx€) the total came to slightly above 90€, hitting the 30€ discount threshold, resulting in 10€ for the RdM and 11€ for the Birba, can‘t complain. Earlier this year they even had 30€@60€ but stopped it.
The guys seem quite good for italian wine, they do carry other old and new world wines but seems not as competitive there
2014 Bollinger Grande Anne up on Wineaccess for $160. When stacking referral bonus with the 30 off 100 Amex offer, bottle is ~80+tax with free shipping
Not a bad price at all. Not sure what warehouse you pull from but if you’re looking for good champagne, the west coast warehouse has Pierre Paillard’s NV for $54 so with the 20/50 it comes out to $37 or so. Unreal deal for some solid grower champagne.
Got an email today from Wine Access; $20 credit for answering a very brief survey. Credits are great since they can apply to bottles restricted from other discounts and promotions.
I just got the $20 this morning. Back in February they offered me $50 for a survey. Combined that with the AMEX $30 off. Was able to get 3 bottles of Paul Launois Champagne for $72
This is what I still see as valid…
