Now that we’re back to 90 degree weather, I’m not as enticed by one-off offers from places that I assume won’t hold an order for six months like First Bottle, though it looks like WineBid will store things relatively cheaply (I’m looking at $3/bottle until decent weather, probably). Not that I’ll have a hard time overspending at my local shops, accumulating an embarrassing multi-package delivery for late October or early November from WdC, and now growing my haul at JJ Buckley.
FYI, you can get a $50 credit at JJ Buckley if an existing private client introduces you to an account rep before your first purchase (can PM me or probably others who have noted they are private clients if interested - full disclosure, we’d get a $50 credit also). So far, I’m happy with the six months storage, selection, and deeper discounts offered to private clients. The liaison can lower almost any price on the website. Some recent purchases were 2012 Charles Heidsieck Brut for $82, 2008 Laurent-Perrier Brut for $59, and 2019 Pegau CdP for $47.50. Not screaming, extreme-couponing deals, but they are generally below listed Wine-Searcher lows. I’d appreciate feedback from anyone if they’ve had issues on the backend getting stored wines shipped since I don’t have that experience yet. I’ve encountered much confusion and missing bottles with other companies offering similar prices and have enjoyed the web tracking and liaison interaction so far from JJB.
I’ve got a flurry of new rebates from Amex, Parcelle wine 20/75, Darioush 135/450, B Cellars 120/400, Vinfolio 50/250 & 75/250, BV 60/200, Foley family 100/300, ashes & diamonds 75/250, Stags Leap 60/200, plus the Wince acces, last and first bottle mentioned before. its shows some in Platinum and others on blue cash
We pay plenty of taxes in plenty of ways that more than makes up for the perception of ‘Texas is a low tax state’ plus the wine landscape here is dreadful.
