Amex does not know where your order shipped to. You will be fine.

Amex doesn’t know automatically, but they could have some arrangement whereby Wine Access has to give the okay signal that your purchase qualifies. The email from Amex confirming that the offer was tripped says it’s conditional: “If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will have successfully redeemed the offer and you’ll see a credit of $50.00 on your statement.” Could be that not being in the right shipping state will constitute not meeting the offer terms?

I haven’t gotten my credit yet, two days later, but I’m still hopeful. It wouldn’t be much of an offer if it didn’t apply in 45 out of 50 states when the merchant is an online outfit.

Per Amex term “ Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/30/2021, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant.”, you may not see the credit until Nov or Dec 2021. I have not seen the credit of the offer $30 off $100 expired on Feb 28, 2021.

Thanks for that. Interesting. Makes it a LOT harder to know whether to complain, or if you want to try and use the deal again given the doubt over whether it’s going to work, when you might not know for sure there’s an issue until months after the thing expires!
