JoelD - there is a lot of content in this thread related to all this so please review that. People are happy to help with questions, when someone has done some legwork first and is not asking to be spoonfed.
I suspect that that is dependent on which card you have and which offers. For example, on my bonvoy card, once I use an offer, it goes away on the authorized card. However, on my platinum card, certain offers can be used on both cards once added (e.g. wine.com offers and wineaccess offers I used on both my primary card and my authorized card this fall). Other offers, like the recent bestbuy 2 times 50 off 50 and homedepot 2 times 50 off 50 offers could not be used on both cards. In general, on the platinum card, I use the offers on my primary card and wait a month and then use the same offer on my authorized card if it’s still available. More often than not, I can use the offers on both. This is probably because the authorized platinum card is quite expensive - something like 250$ a year and so it gets many of the same benefits as the primary card.
As a stewardship member, I obviously agree that stewardship is where you can get the most value especially if you spend a lot each year on wine. Just trying to share a code that could help a ton of people out. Plenty of folks don’t spend thousands a year on wine and may just want to order something from wine.com because it isn’t available locally, or as a one time purchase to take advantage of a good Amex offer. I could see the value in that, sorry you can’t.
The problem is that 10% cash back on RMN doesn’t even get you below the actual price of the wine. All the prices on wine.com are nearly uniformly 20+% above the best price on wine-searcher. It’s only through this absurd combination of stewardship, 30% off coupons, and 10+% off cash back that we can actually get a good deal.
Thanks, Michael! I let my Stewardship lapse, but this code works with .97 prices. These aren’t as uniformly marked up. The code also works well if anyone in my boat simply wants something delivered quickly that they can’t find locally.
…or like a case of something where free shipping costs outweigh other potential coupons haha
I mostly agree Michael, however there are some exceptions where this might be worth it for a non stewardship member. Especially on wines ending in .97 or .00 where the coupons don’t apply. They do occasionally have deals for those in different regions that are worth it.
Sorry to cause you the distress of posting a coupon that you don’t find valuable. Next time should I PM you and Mike C for official clearance before posting a valid coupon in the forum?
Thanks for the feedback, just a little frustrated that an honest attempt to help folks out with no benefit to myself would get met with such animosity.
Michael, there’s a saying that “No good deed goes unpunished” . . .
I appreciate your post and the gesture to share it in case somebody could use it, even if it might rank relatively low on the wine.com coupon ranking as pointed out. I might use it myself as my account is without Stewardship for the moment. I can grab a well priced modest bottle or two without the shipping charge. Thanks. Cheers.
(Hang in there, partner)
Your coupon for free shipping is of course helpful to people who don’t have Stewardship and since the title of this thread is not “Best deal/coupon for people with wine.com stewardship” it is totally appropriate.
Also, while the 10% RMN wine.com cash back does not do a lot on it’s own many of us wait around to use the 20/50 and 50/150 coupons until an RMN 10% or 20% cash back so pointing that out was very helpful for me.
What is the problem here? It’s not like Michael was spamming his referral code, where maybe you could argue that the bar should be a little higher. If it’s no good to you, move on, but who are you to judge what it might be worth to others? If it might be of value to just one person, it’s worth posting. And now you’ve bullied him into redacting the code, depriving everyone of the ability to make up their own mind as to whether they want to use it.
Not only that, I disagree with your basic premise. If I didn’t already have Stewardship and wasn’t a regular user of wine.com, I would definitely be able to find items that were worth buying with that code - especially if I just wanted to buy a couple of bottles and not have to worry about being wiped out by shipping costs. In fact, if I see something that I think a friend or relative might like that’s at an attractive price, I would like to be able to send them the rec along with the code. So I hope Michael puts it back up.
Don’t get so upset. The fact of the matter is that wine.com has a billion different coupons they send out all the time, most of them are not useful. You can Google “wine.com coupons” and you’ll find a bunch of them. If we want to keep the signal-to-noise ratio of this thread high, then we should focus on finding and posting the good ones like 50/150 and 20/50.
Nobody bullied anybody, I think all things considered the responses were fairly tame. There is nothing wrong with providing gentle feedback to let somebody know that “this ain’t it, chief”.
I think you were providing ignorant & useless feedback. A free shipping code is actually differentiated and useful to some subset of people. Maybe not you, maybe not most of the kommentariat here, but as others point out upthread – there are use cases for it.
(I actually let my Stewardship expire literally yesterday but am not using the CORPFREE free shipping code anyways)
Oh I’m sorry, I thought this was “Best deal/coupon for on-line wine shopping”, not “Lukewarm deal/coupon for on-line wine shopping”.
In any event, I was not aware that there were so many people who follow wine.come coupons that do not have Stewardship. It seems like a prerequisite to me, but to each their own.
