BerserkerDay 15 Tagging - input requested

FINAL LIST OF TAGS POSTED IN THIS POST, BELOW:

The tagging function of the new software is really robust (just ask Otto!) so we will finally utilize it fully for BerserkerDay. For many years requests have been made to make the offers more ‘searchable’, by region, by varietal, etc. The tagging function here will be perfect for those who want it, but also will leave the listings clean, as tags appear separately from the title, name of poster, date, etc. Those who don’t need to use it won’t have to, those who do want to can do so.

For those not familiar with tags, they are added to the thread when the thread is created. One can search for a tag, for example, riesling brings up the results in search:

When you click the same tag on any thread, shown with a square box to its left, you get all the other results with the same tag:

(clicking any of those tags gets you all the results to each of those subjects)

One for non-wine items but be useful.

Perhaps a separate tag for food and one for non-wine.

While I can’t do one just for stemware, as there are (likely) only a tiny handful (as always), the same goes for food options, so I added a nonwine tag above as well

I don’t know if this is too in the weeds, but I’d find a freeshipping tag useful. I gravitate towards those offers, and have been about to pull the trigger on others only to see the total with shipping in the cart and then pull back on it

I get it, but that really puts those without free shipping at a great disadvantage, and so few do free shipping as the cost is too much to bear. In these tags, I don’t want to make the situation bad for the majority of sellers, as this would do. Most who take on that huge cost of free shipping put it in their thread title

Maybe #BD15Sparkling or #BD15Bubbles for Champagne and other sparkling wines?

BD15Library for people offering wines over {insert appropriate number here} years past vintage? Maybe for wines over say 7 years old (so basically 2017-ish or older)?

BD15Vertical - I know in the past some offerings like Iota and Franny Beck offered a vertical of the same wine over a 2-3 year vertical

both those are good options, but if only a couple sellers have those, is it worth tagging? (genuinely asking)

#BD15Syrah. May not be many, but I gravitate toward those from Napa/Santa Barbara/Oregon/Washington/France/wherever

At the least, I’d like to see simething like: Food, Acessories, Old World, and for domestic wines, maybe the state they’re from.

Great plan - sharpening my tagging pencil!

well the idea of the tag is to cut through and find what you want

maybe its just me, but most of my BD purchases have been library/vertical type purchases so maybe I just find the small %? Its a way for us “newer” collectors to build out a collection with some age on it, so its those offerings I tend to gravitate towards…

one last tag idea, last year it seemed popular to “make your own” offer where up to 3 wines were X% off, up to 6 wines Y% off and up to a case+ Z% off and there was a list of wines (or sometimes their entire catalog). that might appeal to people versus being “stuck” to take a fixed offering - so like BD15DIYBUNDLE or something?

I second the rationale on the library/vertical request.

Ok, I’ll add it, but there’s no guarantee sellers will have them to sell

Do you have any non-Willamette Oregon wineries? Rocks, Gorge, Rogue,… If so, a more generic #BD15Oregon might be appropriate??

Perhaps since you are doing #BD15Pinot, #Bd15Cab and a few others, you could do #BD15Rhones to cover syrah, grenache, etc . . .

Also, I’m sure the Paso producers would love #BD15Paso as well :slightly_smiling_face:

Cheers

#BD15Rose

There were some pretty spectacular rose offerings last year that should not be missed.

Regionally, might you add a Santa Cruz Mountains AVA?

With so many AVAs, I wonder if I should just use tags for states, otherwise, we are going to have an awful lot of tags, if there is only one or two representative sellers from a particular AVA, it’s not really worth tagging, but I’m open to the idea
