BD13 - picking up steam

Apparently there’s a pretty berserk Flannery deal coming our way [wow.gif]

A pork something!! [snort.gif]

It was also pretty entertaining!
I’m looking forward to picking up the Pork Cap from Flannery Beef. That 14 ounce size works great when it’s just 2 of us

Todd better not be offering stuff on Instagram that’s not on WB. Some of us old folks don’t play that game. [swearing.gif]

My apologies. I should have been a little more clear. The offers were only in regards to BD13. No special Instagram offers.

Correct, and (at least with Fedex) it’s often significantly cheaper, like 25-30% less than shipping to a home. I’d strongly suggest it, would relieve some pressure/price from the sellers, too

Philippe Andre (the ‘host’) was digging in with the other guests, asking what their offers were going to be. Good thing it wasn’t super specific, other than those mentioned here. When the Walter Scott folks announced their auction item I saw like 20 comments and received 2 texts and an email about it lol

As a seller, how would I know where their access point is unless the list it as their delivery address? I am all in for more economical methods of shipping. I can ship Fed Ex or UPS and I will list them as an option. UPS is my default but if someone says hey I def don’t want UPS, ship Fed Ex, I do so.

Exactly, it’s up to them to put that as their shipping address in the order - cuts back big time on cost. Unfortunately most of you are selling assuming it’s residential, which most will be, so prices won’t reflect that. A hassle, but you could have two shipping prices in the offer, maybe? One for UPS Store pickup, one for all others?

So, to be clear, a buyer could put in this address?

In my website, I don’t have that type of setup. But I will put it in big bold letters if “IF YOU ARE SHIPPING TO AN ACCESS POINT PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN ENTER SHIPPING CORRECTLY

Yup, and it would save the shipper/seller money.

Perhaps just ask for it in the order and charge something between residential and UPS Store/Fedex Office rates and hope people play nice, dollar-cost-average the shipping with the mix.

That is really good to know. My shipping charges are calculated by the carrier, I don’t alter or have a way to change them, at lest the way my website is set up. I have the box size, weight, and address, the fees are all calculated by UPS or Fed Ex. I cannot ship USPS because of the liquids.

I’m in for this, an easy pick up at CVS.

As a producer, all I ask is that you be very clear if you have specific shipping instructions. With the number of orders we all receive, purchasers should be as clear as possible about where they want the products shipped AND if they have specific shipping requirements. Most if not all producers have ‘special notes’ sections in the ordering process - or you can simply send an email with order number and instructions. This will hopefully minimize errors.

Cheers.

Can you please post a link. I looked on IG but couldn’t find it. (Don’t use IG, so probably just missed it)

Quick note for customers- FedEx can be rerouted to a Walgreens for free. They hold for 5 days. Easy.

UPS can be held at location (the actual UPS Hub) for free but unfortunately they don’t make it easy and you have to call. This can no longer be done via the website or app. If you have UPS Mychoice, for ~$20/year, you may reroute unlimited packages to hold at various UPS locations. Some UPS stores have recently refused to sign for alcohol so if you use their shipping address, make sure they will accept and hold for you. I also heard while UPS will make 3 delivery attempts to a residence, sometimes they only make 1 to a business for alcohol. Individual changes are $5.99 per package so if you think you will have multiple, the $20/year is a better deal. I encourage you to do your own research on prices for your areas.

When I went into the office, the UPS hub was around the corner so I had wine held and then just picked up on my way home. All very easy as back pre-pandemic, I could just hold for pickup at the hub from the ship link notifications. Now I’m working from home so the hub pickup has only been once or twice in the middle of the summer when I knew I would not be home. I’ve also had the same UPS drivers for over 15 years so I don’t have issues. FedEx is hit or miss on punctuality. I usually always reroute to Walgreens. It gets delivered in the morning so I can pick up at my leisure. Both free options. I do not pay for the UPS reroute services, but many use those options for their wine deliveries.

Yes, exactly; I do it all the time. First, if using FEDEX to Walgreens, check with the store just to make sure they accept alcohol. If UPS access point, make sure you verify what the business and location are, as relevant to your zip code. Google search it.

I loved listening to them talk about the strains of yeast in the drying rooms. Just like a winery…

Are the Flannery steaks shipped frozen? If not, are people freezing some cuts upon receipt?
