BD13 - picking up steam

Unless noted (see the helluva deals section of their site) they are not frozen but freeze super well. I think most of us stock up and fill the freezer.

Thanks for all the info. I am not a UPS Mychoice customer. Therefore, I have to route to a central hub for pick-up that is 30 minutes away in good traffic after a missed delivery, and then pick up between 3 and 5 P.M., meaning rush hour. So 30 minutes becomes 45 + each way.

With FedEx I just route to my local Walgreens, get a text when it has arrived, and pick up at my convenience over the next few days.

I freeze mine and have had some a year later and still great. The dry aging reduces the moisture so they are less impacted by freezing.

Exactly. I’ve had them frozen more than five years with no noticeable change in quality.

Good to hear, I have some at least 2 years old, probably 3. I need to clear out some freezer space for BD.

I listened to the whole IG live and missed Walter Scott dropping the line on what theyre offering! can someone spill it??

I mentioned earlier in the thread that BD13 would have fewer offers.

Wrong

One word: library

The team graciously donated something very special to the auction.

Say you wanted a vertical of every chardonnay from Walter Scott. How could you get that?

By taking out a 2nd mortgage.

Sure, Erica (and Ken) announced on the IG live event that Walter Scott would be providing a vertical of X Novo Chardonnay as an auction item for BD 13. It will be a complete vertical to date, 2013 through 2019. I’m sure that I’ve heard it numerous times over the years, but I always forget that 2013 was the first year for the X Novo Chardonnay. I was curious about my holdings and it appears that I have a healthy stash of every vintage minus 2015. I’m not sure what happened there. Anyway, we first tasted with Ken back in 2014. Our group, including a local Charlotte wine distributor, were completely mesmerized by the 2013 Chardonnays from barrel and hence the beginning. I’m sure that some of the other usual board suspects might have the complete vertical. Andy S., Rick Allen, Scott T., etc. I’m sure that the auction item will draw lots of attention on Thursday.
